We signed the papers yesterday!

Got the doors on Thursday. The house is almost ready too. Final cleaning scheduled for late next week, I think ;) Water and septic will hopefully be done next week as well.

Got the lighting done over the weekend. I'm happy with the results. Septic tank was moved today. Unfortunately, the pump tank had a large crack in it, so was destroyed.

Completed the initial electrical install. Just 5 outlet circuits along with the 3 lighting circuits. I saw the price for the 6-3 I need for the two 30A circuits I want, and will have to wait till some of this is paid for. I called requested the inspection so that hopefully, if it passes, we can final this project and get moved in. I now need motor stands. LOTS of them, LOL!

Well, i didn't know I needed GFCI outlets on all receptacle circuits. Went ahead and replaced what was needed, and called for another inspection. Inspector said the rest of the install looked good. The electrician is supposed to be here today to wire up the septic yank, as well as relocate the pump house feed to the shop panel. We are now +7 weeks past our original move in date, and the wife is stressing over all of it. Im hoping we can get moved in soon.

The electrical inspection is always the tough part. When you do it yourself they always find something wrong with it. Don't worry, at least you'll know it's done right. Soon you'll be able to breathe again and all will be good!

looks like a Morton building...
It's a pole building built by a local contractor. He only has 5 or 6 people working with him. Super cool guy, and very easy to work with. Anyone in the Puget Sound looking for a pole building, I highly recommend them.

I know its coming, but it seems that light at the end of the tunnel, seems to be a train...

Inspection approved this time around. The electrician had just left when the inspector called about my inspection. He even took the time to inspect their work while he was there. So, now its finish dirt work today, and three final inspections, then the FHA inspection...

I moved my severely neglected 340/727 into the shop last night. Today, I'll put my 383 I just bought in there, and move the rest of my motors into the shop. Probably move the Demon in as well.

Good deal, exciting times ahead! All of it will be worth it.

*****UPDATE*****

Shop finished, and already is full, LOL! Got the travel trailer in, the Demon, Dart, My Ram, her Durango, my dads flat bed trailer, and the lawn equipment. We use the two car door for our garage. Still have a bunch of stuff to sift through to get sorted. I've already figured it's about $4K in material for my loft construction. I just need an engineer for the plans I want. Also, we signed for a solar installation. 18KW, 54 panels, 94% Utility offset. PUD has approved our plan, now just waiting on permits...AGAIN...

more later

thats cool

i know when i build my lean too i went to the local lumber yard, told them what i wanted and they drew up the plans for me
which i then submitted to the city to get a permit

When I did my shop I had the electrician install the panel, one outlet and one light.

When the inspector came over he signed off and said " just be sure you follow code when you finish your lights and outlets"!

Mine actually wrote the number of circuits on his inspection sticker...

What do you think about starting a poll as to how long it is before you say you should have built it bigger LOL!!!

I say 1 year and you’ll wonder where all the space went. They are never big enough.

Looks very nice and glad to see it’s finished.

The former city inspector and I had some serious differences of opinion on a few subjects before I built my shop.

Several years earlier I had a small.electrical fire in a house I had just moved into...the first night!

I hired an electrician to replace the 60 amp service(and four sub panels) with 200 amp service. But I wanted underground service (dead of winter... 4 feet of frost) from the power pole but he did not want the new temp. service attached to my home until spring.

We got that worked out.

Then he inspected the new service in the spring and my real estate assessment went up by $20,000! Found out he was also the assessor!

After two special hearings we called a truce and we got along ok.

Then I bought a 5,000 sq. ft. existing pole shed to move 40 miles to my place...in town. After one more hearing they allowed to build 1500 sq. ft. I sold the balance of the shed to a farmer and made $$$.

So the inspector wanted structural drawings from a certified engineer i got a local pole builder to draw ip my plans and ball park snow loads and such. I live on the north side of US Hwy 10. Snow loads south of Hwy 10 must be 40# sq. ft North of Hwy 10 they must be 80# sq. ft..as I recall. My building was south of Hwy 10 when originally built.

We worked it out. He got his drawings...I got my building almost free and we all are happy!

Congratulations!!!
Enjoy-some of us look on with a little envy at that, (let's see, bigger than our 3 bdrm house-that has NO garage...)and it's a 2 story? or am I just thinking it is?
