I think the reason Miramar sucked is the transient nature of many of the people, AKA squadrons came and went. We got one CO who for a time implemented cold cuts sandwich bar for lunch. The darn place was overloaded, guys were clawing to get those sandwiches. They had all kinds of different meats. It did not last long, there was some rhumor "it cost too much"

One huge problem for me is I was brought up on spuds. I still like spuds, but don't eat them as much. The ones at Miramar tasted bad, were seldom really done, and often cold. The joke was you put butter on them and it got HARDER LOL

Another much hated detail at Miramar were the "four wheel drive" shopping carts in the commissary. All 4 wheels swiveled on the carts. Think about that for a bit LOL
