I had offered this car to several on this site for years with no interests. I told my son to do what he wants with it. This should be good. I keep up with the progress. Its a shame to cut up a 4spd Demon to make a Tubbed drag car but that is his choice.

I was also cleaning up so I gathered some housings from the farm and put them on a pallet. All A-body housings were put inside. LOL

So..........
What's wrong with making it a tubbed race car?
Back in the '70s and '80s a lot of people did just that and never thought twice about it.
The purists that hate this sort of thing should have either stepped up to the plate to buy it, or get in touch with the reason these cars were built in the first place........to modify and have fun with them.
In fact, back when these cars were new, a lot of well known racers did just this and are loved by many for their drag racing exploits and putting Mopar on the map on a lot of drag strips.
To name a few are Landy, Sox, McCandless, Flynn, Hamburger, and many more.
Good for him!
BTW, good job on installing the U.S. car tool frame connectors, they look like they fit like a glove!

Call it "Demonic Possession"

I went to the garage this morning and he started on the body fixture. Any A-body will be able to be put on here and straightened or reassembled. This body even though it is perfect it was off by 1/4 inch front to back. but set down perfect . So these bodies flex even when empty. There will be other supports such as front and rear bumper which will have jacks built in to straighten twisted cars. This frame fixture base was bought at Mario Andretti's race shop. They used it to straighten his sprint cars years ago.

The car will be clamped on to this fixture to install the cage. I'll try and keep up with pictures as he goes on. There are other twisted race cars coming here to get straightened. One had a cage welded in while sitting on the tires and jack stands That car is twisted pretty good. So much that when you pump the slicks up hard the right front comes of the ground. That car was done a Mike Curcio's race shop.

I gave everything to my son. He is building this Demon. went and took some pics The Duster is setting here in a trailer as you see it with all the parts from the Orange Duster. and another Demon. The brown Duster was tucked away in another trailer unfinished for now as pictured below. Wish I could have sold it but its not eating anything.
He is putting this Demon together so we can go racing. I wanna go racing where is the fun in going slow. LOL. I won't pass the physical but don't worry I'll test it on the street out front when he goes away. I may have to start with this one at the cul de sac. Yee Haa

I just saw the box that says Duster tail lights. I knew there was a box of tail lights missing. Wonder where the box of Demons are? I just went and bought more maybe I didn't need.

There is a box of Duster tail lights in front of that marked box maybe the Demons are in the Duster box. I'll have to investigate

When you say "tubbed", how tubbed? Full or just a mini? Will be a great looking ride for sure!

Outer to the quarter and inner to the rail. Mini tubbed is usually just the inner to the rail. The car will be a radial car but lowered 2 inches front with mustang spindles and also 1 3/4 in the rear, 3/4 with sliders and front hangers . And I ordered 2500-3000 1 inch lowered mono leaf springs. I am thinking we will have to raise the wells for a 29 x 10.5 tire or radial on a 12 inch bead lock with the car lowered . My Duster had factory ride height mono leafs and they rubbed the upper wells due to the taper with 29x14.5's.

If you lived close to a bunch of members we’d put bleachers up and just sit and watch you guys.

It won't be long and the Machine shop will be at a large commercial property my son bought. Then we'll have room to do more then one car at a time here. There was a parts department and a man cave upstairs . He has been living up there for 15 years. Soon I'll have it back

Before and after
The stool in the second picture is at the same place as the engine block on its back in the first picture 15 years ago. They would put a 12x5 sheet on the pool table and have some pretty wild parties up there. Most of them were at the Wedding yesterday.

The one time the police knocked on the house door and asked if I could get the guy standing at the end of our road in his tighty whities, safety vest, and hard hat. He was directing traffic and parking cars with a flash light. I send the Police up to the garage and the Dog met him at the sliding door with a fiber optic wig. Its a very small town and the police knew them all. Many years of this. It may finally get peaceful now.

We raced all over the US and they were always there. Texas was the best next to Arkansas. But there was a 4 day party at every track. Thursday-Sunday every two weeks

I love going racing,Its a blast with this crowd of young people. Never a dull moment. Do it for fun or don't do it.

Remind em every chance you get, to enjoy their youth. They'll blink their eyes and be in their 60's like us! My brain is stuck in my 30's because it seems like I was there day before yesterday....but my 63 year old body has to reel the brain in sometimes! I enjoy being around young people too, and there are MANY good ones no matter what some people think.

I am just happy for my son that he found someone to spend the rest of his life with. She definitely changed his life for the better. His wife "Tia" is a good person and calmed him down . I am hoping for another grandchild. LOL

I taught my daughters 6 yr old how to drive yesterday. I couldn't get him off the golf cart. He is the oldest and is here almost everyday and is the reason I don't get anything done? I'm always buying toys I never had. Then watch the four of them play. When I think back the 60's were so much different.

The Duster was the car of my dreams. Its gone. The Demon will be my sons with a touch of old school looks from dad. I was thinking of buying a new Demon. My friend just ordered one and it came in $68,000 out the door. Red Eye . He'll probably never get to use the red key. 24 miles in a month he is 76 yrs old.

Great photos, I'm happy for you all.
What's with all of the Canadian beer on the table?

I was told they were drinking Mountain Dew. LOL

Dave member "1969383valiant" was sitting in the garage when there was a party starting. He turned to me as he was looking up the driveway and said Steve there is a naked girl walking down the driveway. I peeked my head ot around the corner and sure enough to my surprise there she was. She was wearing a feather on a thong and two leaves for pasties. It was another thanksgiving dinner and they all dressed as indians and Quakers again.

Before you know it we all were sitting in the garage facing the driveway. The summer rafting parties were even better. These country girls are crazy. Now he's married it'll be boring. The only naked things around here now are A-bodies.

Tires came for the rear. Car is being set up for 275 and 315 X15 60's. He is putting the tires underneath the car so it will get full tubs to the rails. Rear is getting moved front 1" . Rails are being replaced with 2x3 box in the rear to accept adjustable slider height to raise and lower car height.
