I need to remove a factory dash mounted tach from my 65 Barracuda Formula S. How is it mounted in the dash frame? I looked up under the dash but it's not obvious and I don't want to break anything.

Should be 4 nuts on the back to take off. I found this picture of a tach and you can just see a couple of nuts on the back at the top in this picture.

Thank You at least I know what to look for.
Begin the tach removal process by removing the instrument cluster first. Believe me, you will find that necessary. Also, removing the headlight switch and wiper switch will make getting to the 4 attachment nuts easier. Removing the fuse box attachment screw and moving it to the side the helps. Forget trying to see where the nuts are, this is a touchy- feely exercise.
All in all a job that take patience.

What I found were actually Phillips screws into those funky looking "nuts" It was very helpful removing the dash cluster and I used a mirror to see what I needed for tools. Thanks Guys

I used threaded studs screwed into the 4 tach mounting and attached with nut and a spacer for each. Screwing nuts on the a stud during re-installation is much easier than hoping to find where the threads are on the tach mount. Also, a nut can be held in a socket which helps when fingers and hands are large like mine.
