My local track had test & tune tonight in prep for a big bracket race tomorrow. The air was going to be good so I loaded my Dart up and headed out. About a month ago it ran 6.33 @ 108.42. With the good weather I was hoping to better that.

First pass it spun and ran 6.31 @ 109.74 with a 1.440 60', with just a little hesitation at the hit. The engine temp was only around 120°. The track was packed so it was about an hour before I made it to the water box again. This pass it ran 6.26 @ 110.01 with a 1.405 60', the engine was around 150°. The final pass was about forty five minutes later. It ran 6.25 @ 110.02 with a 1.397 60'. I had it to about 160° for the last pass.

I'm pleased with the way it ran and if I can find the 60' there is a little more there. My first two lights were okay but on the last pass I was snoozing. This engine just doesn't build any heat. It has a 160° thermostat in it and running in the lanes I could watch it open and the temp would fall, then slowly warm back up. I may need a 180° thermostat to help build some heat.

That's haulin the mail. Hell yeah! But this just exhibits what I was talkin about the other day. Three passes is all you got.....and it's over in an 1/8 mile. I don't know man. I'm glad you're havin fun....and it's cool you're haulin ***. But **** man, it's just not worth loadin it up if you're takin a trailer or drivin there. We have an 1/8 mile track fairly close to us, but I cannot tell you what us local boys call it. lol The only other track is The Silver Dollar in Reynolds, Georgia. It's an NHRA sanctioned 1/4 mile track about a little more than an hour away, but same scenario. You're lucky to get three runs. Hell, I remember when I was racin hot n heavy back in the early 80s. We could go and probably make 8-10 runs a night on the weekends. Times sure have changed.

I probably could've got in a few more passes but I worked off (12 hrs) nights this morning so I'm beat and was ready to come home. This track is only about 20 minutes away, so it's not much of a drive.

From what I understand the winner of the race tomorrow gets a guaranteed entry into the million dollar bracket race. So there were cars there from all over.

I'd like to see what it will run in the quarter and if I can get a one day ticket to Bowling Green in two weeks I'll take it and see.

Looks like Tulsa Int. , I started to come out , but as usual wifes family messed that up .
Good luck tomorrow -----------/today .

Bob, I'm not going to play with those guys today, I'd be first round fodder.

Nice,that's like a 9.54 in the 1/4..what is your set-up??..

I'm not sure it would go much faster than 9.90's.

Street/strip 69 Dart, 3350#, pump 93 434" R1 small block, 11.2-1, Comp solid roller, Indy heads and intake, 727, 8" Coan converter, Strange S-60 with 4.10's, Cal Trac springs and bars and Viking double adjustables all around.

Thanks guys.

Congratulations. We haven’t had new best air all year and honestly after five seasons mines has seen better days so she wouldn’t have one in it anyway. Lol.

Congrats! I gotta agree on the 9.90s tho. Wallace says 9.92, and I've got three other ways to convert 1/8 to 1/4, they all say very high 9.70s to high 9.80s. Still, now you need all the b.s. that goes with a a nine second slip, or....

What tire are you running?

I get that. It’s still a DOT tire, not a radial slick.

i run a DOT Hoosier drag radial.
It has two tiny grooves in it. Its a friggin drag slick, no matter what they call it. Most all these tires are a “ slick” they just have a groove or design, etc in them.
They act, at the track, no different than a slick.
I think what you are implying is that, geez, its a DOT tire, so that makes the OP’s times more fantastic( and btw, that is fantastic and the car runs great)
But you could could put a Goodyear bias slick on the car and it would slow down.
Nothing “ DOT” really, about these radials. They are a drag tire, with zero loss of ET over anything

I run DOT tires like that and they aren’t a slick.

Lets agree to disagree.
My hoosier DOT drag radials are getting replaced this week.
They no longer Have the two grooves on them. They look and act like any slick i have ever had. Except they are radial construction, not bias ply.
They, and all the others, with just a couple of exceptions, are all race tires. No matter how they are marketed.
I wouldn't drive in the rain with my drag radials, even if new, for all the tea in China
