City Installing Sewer Line Today

-
Clay tile, transite, tar paper, asbestos cement seen it all. The worst is definitely tar paper but all if installed correct will last a long time.

All the tar paper ,( I cant remember the correct name ) , that I ran into , were always flattened out and stopped up ---------
Still a lot of transite water lines out there too, usually coated with thin muddy type film inside , and doesnt release asbestos , if not disturbed . The area where I live is full of them , been there for yrs.

The first house on my block just got tied into sewer 4 years ago, old lady hadn't pumped her septic in 40 years.....! Hers was the last to get onto muni sewer. Ours is the first street built in our neighborhood so we got the oldest homes....hurray.....

All the neighbors are getting hooked up, not us because we did not know about the list that was going around. In our own defense, we do have an "installation box" already constructed outside on the street (see photos). It took some doing getting the cover off because the baling wire they used as a pull handle had rusted away. It's looks to me to serve well as a swimming pool for sewer rats.

So....you just need to hook your sewer line to the house side of the box, and the other side is already hooked to the new sewer line? Hopefully, you can get enough fall on your line from the house to the box for it to work.

No, the house already is connected to the box (see plug), lacking box connection to main sewer line in street.
At the moment, the line to street from box dead ends somewhere near the box.

Are you on a well, or municipal water? The hell if I'd be on municipal water ever again since being on well water for 18 years. No telling what kinds of chemicals they'll put in your water.

We use municipal water. Water is provided every other evening for 6-8 hours and stored underground and/or on roof tops. The municipal water in this neighborhood comes from city wells and tested high for arsenic. I recently found a photo of a city well site showing a series of filters used to remove the arsenic.

Last year the city delivered "green water" for a period of weeks or months (see photo). They sent a team out to my place to check the residual chlorine level of the water they delivered here. Eventually, the water cleared up but I never received an explanation. Dogs seem to like it alright.

So where does your sewage currently go? High arsenic? I'd be getting my water tested that comes from my tap. Treated municipal water in ontario high in arsenic has a maximum allowable concentration of 0.01 mg/l, which equals 0.01%.

To compare apples to apples according to article below, Mexicos MCL is 25 micrograms/l.
Which equals 2.5 mg/l. 2.5 times our MAC level in Ontario.
Arsenic is extensively used in mining applications and ends up in settling ponds.
Mexico has been known for bad water for decades. I am making assumptions here, but its also known for its corruption. I would bet pesos to tacos there is a correlation.
