340 block . Standard bore dated before july 68 with no VIN stamp or a warranty block before 72 with no VIN stamp. Thanks
 
I've got a '73 (2/9/73 casting) with no VIN or build stamp. Complete core long block in Fresno.
 
Here are the numbers and date stamp. Standard bore. Appears to be one of the first. I could not find any numbers on that oil pan railing.

Can you send pics. Does it have a forged or cast crank?

I see where your getting at..i should have been more clear. Im looking for a block dated before july 68 in the same year. So January 68 to july 68 is what im looking for.

Yes, with '73 intake and '72 340 Thermoquad. No distributor, though. I can dig out a timing cover as I have extras, but there isn't one with it at the moment.
 
I have a 1970 340 warranty complete good running engine. no stamps . steel crank , 340 rods, +.030" bores, honed with plate, decks surfaced/squared. forged trw 10.5 pistons, freshened in 1989. only $3400.
 
I will check tomorrow.....I have a couple dozen 340 blocks most standard.
