D4B Hood Clearance?

-
I believe the 2 bbl & 4 bbl rods are very close in length, with a slight bend in the 4 bbl rod.
Photo of my 4 bbl rod; if I had same amount of threads exposed, bend might be only difference.

Following Up with an alternative kick down linkage solution:
I was trying to mock up a bracket as dplasmeier suggested but I am ending up going a different direction that looks like it will work out. Instead of using the top hole position on the edelbrock early A throttle linkage I used the lower one for the kick-down as it appears to have a more similar radius to the 2 barrel that came off resulting in less linear movement of the rod. (Maybe everyone else already knew this but I didn't.) Using the top position (where the throttle cable goes) seemed like it would restrict throttle position from going WOT and I was having an issue creating a transmission kick-down linkage with a large enough radius to accommodate for the added linear movement while avoiding the electrical connection block directly above the bell crank.
As for the kick-down rod. I have taken a 318 2 barrel rod that has a series of bends and cut about a 1.25" section out of it back to the factory 2 barrel bell crank. The 318 rod accommodates for the height difference and the position difference.
I will update with pictures later this week after I get the 340 4 barrel throttle bracket in.

My question was to dpalsmeier. I've been trying to determine which of the 3 upper bell cranks are correct for each year and carb.

Resurrecting a Necro-post rather than start another thread.

First off, thanks for all the information here.

I'm putting a 71 318 into a 64 Valiant... LD4B intake.
I was concerned about hood clearance. I have a Holley 4160 and a 600cfm Eddy as carb options as I understand that the Holley air cleaner flange is a bit lower.

Interested in what air cleaner folks are running atop an LD4B or D4B on an Early-A? I would love to use a Commando chrome air cleaner, but I'm thinking that'll be a bridge too far....

Sometimes using a shorter filter element will get you the extra clearance you need.
