I am looking for someone to rebuild the carrier of my 8 3/4 Sure-Grip
The spider gear shafts ate into the case and wobbled out the case holes.
It will need to be welded back up and re machined.
Thanks in advance

There are times when you shouldn't talk bad about others. I have many cases I would sell very cheap to someone in need. Many times people cut off their nose to spite their face on this site. What style case do you need? That would be the first thing someone would have to know. I brought several home recently that are parts only due to sitting at the farm for so long and ring gears are rusty. Sure grip? Cone Style? clutch style?

My son also repairs anything . But it in reality would be cheaper to find a case. Welding it would weaken it unless a process is followed $$$. Plus more than likely other parts will be needed.

Very nice
It is a 489 clutch style
Did not think I would find a 489 at a reasonable $ price.
Last year when I found my carrier was in such bad shape I replaced it with and after market clutch unit, that has not gone well.
I am know contemplating replacing the current carrier with a stock Sure-grip.

My son is getting married this week end . I will see what is here at an affordable price after I recuperate.

I know I have cone style if you look close most of these these pictured are marked cone. If I send you one I will include the races duct taped to the sides they came from. So clean it and install it. all these rears were removed over 30 years ago. So they are not wore out.

You guys can send each other a personal message to work out the details. Congratulations to your son and his new to be wife!

OK, but thought you just needed the housing.
It’s all I got besides a 3.55 R&P.

The sure grip carriers I have are are very low miles . All of them. They were at the farm for over 30 years and at another location for at least 15. They were all in the housungs when I brought them home about a month ago. I also have several here for A-body cars that I always had that are not pictured. They are locked in the trailer due to A-body thieves. I can have my son tear it down and sonic clean it and check it but then the price goes up. I am not going back and forth. I'll wait for your PM and then I'll give you my contact info, Phone No#

I have complete carriers gears are 323's 355's 391' 410'd 430's 456's and 488's some are spools

Mike this is not a sale thread or a wanted thread this is a tech thread and I am offering help as asked for. There is no prices mentioned. That will be done through PM's if you will free up my usable 47%. Note I also suggested machine work which he inquired about. Steve

My cone 741 3.55 unit needs some help, can it be fixed or is the unit toast?

looks like that sure grip is history -- not worth the time and money to fix the case since NO internal parts ( side gears ,, spider gears ) are available anywhere -- and your parts are toast .
