I recently contacted Ram Clutches about them making a clutch for my slant and it was suggested I use a Force 9.5 and they would make a pocketed flywheel for the slant six. As of today, a stock, large center hole flywheel and bellhousing is on its way to SC to see if we can fit this thing in. A group buy will be available if we get this to fit. Needless to say, this will be an awesome upgrade for the slants present clutches available. The flywheel is really the custom part so you can get a 23 spline disc for your 3 or 4 speed, or a 10 spline disc if you are running a Ford T5, etc.
I have a post in “transmission” on Slantsix.org and we have 5 interested parties with more to come as this comes into fruition. Once we verify that this setup works, we will have a period for group buy and the buyer will deal directly with Ram on the purchase.
As a single unit, I was quoted $950 complete and assembled but was also offered a reduced price depending on how many units are ordered. I feel this is very reasonable considering what is involved.

What do you have for an engine that you need a dual disc?

I have toasted my 10” Police Taxi clutch in about 1000 miles so I know what is Presently available isn’t enough. The Force 9.5 is what Ram has offered to do and I am quite happy about it. Drivability is said to be very good. Going to the strip and dumping the clutch at 3500 or more shouldn’t hurt anything with the Force clutch. The old one at best would burn out and at worst will blow up and take out a lot including the driver.
My slant is at about 220 horses now. I will have a Vortec blower setup installed now that I have efi and that should get me up to around 300 horse. This clutch will cover a lot of applications effectively.

LOL, I remember my Gramps driving his bought-new 60 Merc Comet. He'd wind that thing up to full "governed rpm" then slip that ***** for 5 minutes getting it moving out the driveway.

A stock factory 10.5 used to last in a factory 340 for thousands of miles. I swapped a 340 into my 70RR and when discharged in San Diego from the Navy, used it to tow (itself loaded) a 70 Cuda on a trailer full of parts. I'm thinking you just need a heavier 10" setup. A factory 340 was rated at less than 300 and had gobs of torque.

A 10” or less 23 spline disc is almost unheard of these days. The flywheel is also not the greatest as they develop cracks at the PP bolts with the 10” clutch. This is a safer option and opens up a bunch of possibilities for other transmissions.

The big plus is it doesn't have any pedal pressure, Very easy to hold down.

If you are interested in this clutch, I have the info on slantsix.org
This is likely to happen pretty quickly so let us know if you are in on this buy soon.

You V8 guys just don't understand slant six clutch issues.
Any HP slant will eat a clutch in a short period of time.
The last good slant PP was the Weber 9.5 that was built to 340 spec.
It had the good springs and levers, but they have been gone for years.

The dual disk is just the technology that clutch builders have been moving to.

I just went thru this on my car. A slant at 10psi will produce around 300hp and 500fp of torque. There is no over the counter clutch package for the 122 tooth flywheel that will hold that much power. None, nada, and if you suggest Brewers they will admit there 10" clutch kit won't work.

I believe the money would be better spent on a bell housing that will fit the 10 1/2" clutch.

I hear you kestab. This has been an issue for a long time for us manual transmission slant folks.
I believe this Force 9.5 clutch is the upgrade that makes the most sense for dealing with the inherent weakness of the clutch/flywheel of the OEM slant cars. Changing the clutch to anything bigger than 10” will require a larger flywheel which will change the starter location, which may effect header fitment and then on and on from there. Keeping it in the same form factor keeps it simpler.
The Force 9.5 is a Very good, strong unit and has a bunch of off the shelf spline sizes and facing material. I can’t wait!!
