Vibrations...

-
I'm the one who's done these things cuz I wanna know what's wrong on my own car, two times since 1977 I've almost let a garage fix something on a car of mine. The vibrations came after the engine was out for cleanup but the engine itself runs fine at all revs & when driving & shifting to neutral the engine revs don't matter one bit; the vibrations are there as long as the car is rolling.
& yep 512Stroker, I guess you're quite right. (looking back now I just wonder about ragtopfury post #16)
& yep; I've had the car on stands on the rear axel, running engine & shifter in drive = wheels are as round as possible.

Did it still vibrate on jack stands?

If the height of the transmission mount has changed I'd check the pinion angle. I changed rear springs and as a result I had to rotate the rear axle up 3 degrees to get the correct pinion angle. And once I did that my 80mph vibration went away.

He's already measured it, also the vibration comes on much sooner than 80mph

Ok, “as round as possible” I have had issues where brand new repro redline tires are not round. I race with a guy who has a road force wheel machine. It can balance the tire but it also measures how out of round the tires are. It also measures how out of round the wheel is. So what he did is break down the tire and wheel and put the low spot of the rim with the high spot of the tire. A standard balancer with not help with “out of roundness”
