What identifies a 69 Dart GT on the fender Tag, what engine did 69 Dart GT come with and what else identifies a 69 Dart GT ?

Found this
1969-1971 Fender Tag Codes

I would also look at mmc for info

Look in the front of your Factory Service Manual.

Dart GT's were considered premium models. You can find it in the VIN as a second letter of "P".
Darts and Swingers were LL23****
Swinger 340's were LM23****
Customs were LH****
GT's were LP23****
GT Sports were LS23**** The convertibles were available in GT and GT Sports were a LP27*** and LS27 ****respectively

I think what they are telling you is that the GT package did not specify a particular engine.

Thanks to all of you. That’s good information. I would have thought the GT’s would have had a big block ? Did some have 318 ‘s ? The 69 Dart GT must have been similar in package/cost etc as a 69 Coronet 500 ? Top of the line trim package, but a 318 small block. I’m thinking those 2 cars were very comparable in the A and B body lineup. What I assume

The GT was the upscale model that had some of the performance "look" to it but without the performance engines. The largest engine available in the GT was the 318. The big block was only available in the GTS.

The GT got the blacked out grill like the GTS and had the GTS interior.

From what I see GT could have any engine from 170 \6 to 318 V8

GTS would have had 340 or 383.

Since there is nothing available listings the code, it might have been a "graphics" package. I am sure if you keep looking you will eventually find the actual sales codes. do you have a build sheet?

No, I’m just wanting to learn about them. As I know very little about early model Darts. 68 / 69

67s get no respect, yet they started the entire style / body lines to 76, not to mention the GTS
That’s the truth, Dana. Same goes for early model 66-67 Chargers. Those cars get zero love. I’ve actually grew into liking them in the last several months. I find that fast back style unique and appealing. Those cars get very little love in comparison to a 68-70 Charger. So much, that you can get the early generations pretty cheap in comparison. Another reason, I started liking them.

The quality control, assembly fit and finish and materials used in the interiors is better in the 67 Darts and the 66-67 Chargers. They just seem better built than the 68 and up cars.

Mine came with the center console, bucket seats, wide top line trim and the trunk finish panel designating GT. And a /6.
