Secret second hobbies

Mine's no secret-I'm a life long scale modeler. A bit of my work is posted in the appropriate thread. I also build R/C aircraft (kits, not ARFs) and my own furniture. Also enjoy putting little holes in paper targets from great distances on occasion.

Ballet and break dancing. If I have more time I fly fish, hunt, and all shooting sports, shotgun being my favorite

For the past 25 years, I have been volunteering my services at a music festival up in the middle of the Mitten. What started as a way to get in the festival early has turned into a love of the grounds and a way to give back to the musical community that has been a part of my life since I was a kid. I now have about 30 volunteers that work with me, and my pet project for the last 5-6 years has been to upgrade the “workshop lane”, where the acts that play the festival put on workshops for the attendees to participate to learn music, dance, storytelling, any manner of good old fashioned ways of doing things. So, I decided to upgrade the deplorable benches using all materials harvested from the festival site, which is over 400 acres on an old farm site. Lots of rocks, and lots of trees, so now what once was a hit and miss hodgepodge of benches is now the new workshop bench circles. I have people asking to be on my crew all the time, because it’s fun, and lots of comraderie. In one pic you can see in the background what the benches used to be like, a much needed upgrade.

I retired this past June. I have been spending time with three different sets of grandkids, traveling with my wife, and golf with my friends.

sounds like someone had a happy Wheatland as well. If I had known you were there, I would’ve loved to meet up. My first project at Wheatland was the main stage itself, and after only 1/2 of the day that Saturday, my wife called and said her water broke and Nella was on her way. 3 months later and Nella was at her first Wheatland. It’s a magical place, and we love it there! I love the work weekends better than the festival sometimes, so many good people all working and playing to make Wheatland a better place!

Dude, that's cool, I found this plane in the trash when I was in elementary school walking home, yeah it's all jacked up now, but when I first found it had a pilot lol. So I just have it hung now out of commission.
