B&M Shifter with a bench?

Sorry no pics.
In the '69 340 Swinger I bought in November '69, I eventually put one of the old B&M Series 60 'chrome box' shifters in front of the bench seat.
I'm 6'3" but my 'ex' was only 5'3". The shifter was installed with enough clearance to be able to pull the seat forward in case she drove the car (which she very rarely did).
What was funny was just before we moved from an apartment into our first home, we bought an Irish Setter puppy. We were able to pick it up on Friday and have "weekend custody". I'd pick him up on Friday afternoon and he'd lay down next to me on the bench seat.
I'd had the 727 built as a reverse-pattern manual-shift and each time I shifted into 3rd gear the shift knob would hit the pup in the nose - but he never moved out of the way.
I guess the moral of this story is...the shifter will fit in front of the bench seat.
