RustyRatRod's Guide To Hot Rod Bliss

I could not agree more with Rusty’s OP.

I bought my 69 Barracuda as a beater (No motor, random 4spd in trunk).. spent 4 years building it.. and it still looks like a beater, but now it has a 440, and I LOVE it, and so does everyone on the road.

The only expensive parts are in the clutch and exhaust system.

I run a stock 1977 motorhome 440 ($500) in front of a 4 speed transmission that I rebuilt, stock $35 ignition box from O’Reilly, stock ballast resistor (I have a backup), original paint, original suspension (and all bushings ) and steering (ps), original wiring throughout, TQ carb... oh, and $35 seat covers and no carpeting .

My original plan was basic safety and road worthiness, and to NOT get sucked into the rat race for horsepower and shiny crap, or anything else that would keep it off the road. I stuck to that plan, and still stickin to it.
and there you have it!! It just depends on what you feel is important-driving or dreaming!
