Yep, but all of em were just Vegas with different sheet metal.

Sorta. The rear chassis was a little different between the Vega cars and the Monza cars. Kinda like the difference between the Pinto and Mustang II. Same basic car, but the chassis was different. Now from the firewall forward, they were pretty much spot on.

I don't think it was even sheet metal changes other than the rear lip removed from the vega.

Just plastic front and rear differences.

My Satellite has "1973" on the front plate, "Satellite" on the C pillar real close to eye height, and "Plymouth" in the middle of the back bumper.

I still get asked all three questions.

...and late , slant front vegas look very much like astres and starfires, more so than they do a monza.

yup, get it all the time

funny anecdote,

so I drove the duster out to the store the other day and as I'm walking back out, I am walking many 20 feet behind this couple
just far enough to be able to make out half of the conversation

as luck would have it, they walked past the duster, and then took a sharp left around it to get to their car

I can see them looking at it, and I hear him say something, but im too far off to hear what he said

whatever he said, I could hear her reply loud and clear
she said "its a duster"

the guy just stops, looks at her and goes "how could you possibly know that?"

and she, with her chipper little voice, goes, "says so on the front"

that made my day

I literally had the same cop pull me over twice in the same week, you know things are not going well when the officer sad, did I just not give you a ticket.

ok, one more anecdote

i caught a pretty cool cop the other day ...about 11 at night, quiet street cutting through an industrial turf on my way home
2 lanes, 1 light
im in the fast lane, some import is in the slow lane

when the light turns green i start to go, not racing mind you, just pulling out
well, you know this thing people sometimes do, where they pace you, and your not really racing but your not letting the other car pass?

well, he did that to me
so at about 45 MPH i had enough of it, and i stepped on it
1.5 seconds later, at 75 MPH i let off, and the moment i let off, the cop behind me lit me up

so i pulled over, killed the engine, turned the dome light on and put my hands on the wheel
he came over and asked if i had a drivers license
i said, i do, but im not gonna reach for it with that 9MM laying (i keep it under the armrest)

when he asked if it was loaded i managed to refrain from explaining they would be rather pointless otherwise and simply said "off course"

he ran my license and CPL and throughout the whole deal i of course was very polite (as always) and the cop must have appreciated that because he let me off with a warning
now, if you ever been let off with a warning before, you know it ALWAYS comes with a sermon (or so im told, i never get pulled over)

so, the sermon went something like this:

Son, what you are not getting a ticket for is reckless driving
if you get on it hard enough to go sideways...and i was behind you, you were s-i-d-e-w-a-y-s...that is considered reckless driving
and then he tells me, your driving an orange duster, if you acting out you WILL get noticed

My bracket car has a large white "DODGE" vinyl sticker on the top edge of both rear quarter panels & it still gets call a NOVA. I just smile, nod my head & drive off. Some of the great unwashed CANNOT be educated & they aren't functionally literate.

Y'all know what No Va means in Spanish right? Won't Go
Vega is a spanish slang word missing one letter referring to a part of the male anatomy

Same as with the "non aviation" people...every little airplane they see is a "Piper Cub."

duh, everyone knows this is a cub

after all, it does say "shown with extra parts"

Female co-worker one day, walking past the front of my car as I'm getting ready to leave work, "That's a nice car, what is it, a Rambler?"
She's literally looking at the front of the car where it say's Dodge right on the front of the hood.

One of my best friends and racing buddy, video taping my pass at Carlsbad raceway, is asked who he is videotaping. He says "the dodge".

I drive a 62 savoy, a plymouth last I checked.

When I had my 72 barracuda I was at a gas station filling up and this guy came over and was like nice car man yadda dadda.... we talked for a min he said what's in it 350? I was confused a little I was like no man it's a 318. Then he looked confused well we both had a awkward moment of silence then he said anyway nice Camaro man and he turned and walked away. Haha

He probably wondered why you spent all that time and money putting a 318 in your Camaro.

Wow. Another neighbor stopped me on the street while I was walking and asked me what I was working on in my garage. He said, “is it a Nova?“ And he has a 67 GTO.
My car is a project that hasn’t even been out of the garage, and I’ve been “Nova’d” 3 times in the past few weeks!

I had the opposite happen a couple weeks ago. Stopped at the car parts store on the way home from work and when I came out, a female employee was walking laps of the Duster. Not only did she know it was a Duster, but also knew it was a 1973. Before her and I were done talking, two more people came up and both of them also knew it was a 1973 Duster. I couldn't believe it.
