Help me with my colors everything is stock and original with a little work to the engine. Wondered if I should go original color. Or go red white and blue like my engine. Engine Bay black?.

Would it have better value being original color or does it really matter

Your car but I wouldn't worry about back to all original. The only thing I wouldn't do is paint the engine bay black, Chevy guy's do that! Mopar engine bays should be body color. 65'

IMHO- engine bay is body color.
Engine is red. I have a Chrysler blue engine in my 66 Barracuda and I really don’t like it. It’s coming out this winter for proper red color.

I wanted to go red white and blue on my engine I figure that's always easy to change later

The body I'm not sure maybe just cleaner up and clear coat. Although that doors pretty rusted on one side

That Citron Gold was the most popular 64-65 Barracuda color. Hard to match, but very nice when done...

If you're resto modding, engine bay doesn't have to be body color, but I wouldn't go black, like other posters say thats a GM thing, downright common. Painting mine white, so I can see all the leaks. Got the idea from my Uncle Tony.

Nobody mentioned red white and blue, like my engine.what about paint the car with a flag comments please. Similar to this pic

Personally I would not do that. Unless you are really into getting everyone looking at you. Not that it is your first concern but resale could be an issue. You never know when you might need the money back from this expensive hobby. If you wanted to go really big on color maybe a high impact color from the 70s? Plenty of interesting colors to choose from.
As you can see mine came factory with the metallic red which to me I enjoy as it is subtle but very attractive and still sporty. Only other factory color that is tempting to me is factory silver that was offered.

What do you mean hobby

What value difference between original tan color versus flag colors

And I sometimes do temporary paint jobs with good quality

Any idea what a 65 barracuda 273 a little more than mild build automatic. Mostly gutted inside but very straight and all trim is there
What's it worth

Passion, Interest, hobby. None of what we are doing in a necessity to our lives just fun.
I am not saying that there is a difference in value but it might deter some buyers while attracting others. So it could make it harder to sell versus a more conventional paint jobs or it could make it easier. I don't have a pole of who vs who wouldn't buy an american flag car. Nothing against the flag but it could be a little much for some buyers. Again it is personal preference.
If you are okay with doing temporary paint jobs go for it.
Not exactly but I would guess maybe around $4,000 or so (based on what I paid for a 1 family owned dart with 60,000 miles.) I am not sure and don't really care about your finical details but sometimes you need money in a hurry and most people dump luxury items first like classic cars boats etc.

agreed, if you do need to sell at some point the flag could reduce the number of potential buyers. most like 'classic' colours even if not the original colour for the car. it's just a consideration when choosing paint colour/scheme.
at the end of the day it's your car and your choice, just keep posting up the build.
neil.

I agree if you need to get cash fast a flag paint job would kill most sales. To me Plum Crazy has been overdone I mean it is like a Chevy SS way more than were ever seen when new, I am more into bright red or a 2 tone using a copper color on one of the early cars.

That is probably AA-1 Gold poly metallic. It should be on the fender tag. The 1970 Hamtramck Registry - 1965 Paint Chip Charts Slideshow

Looks nice

What is your paint color at looks the same as mine I can see a little of your Fender
It's a 66 Dart ZZ1 Gold Poly Metallic. It's one of those colors that you either like or it looks ugly. I painted the engine compartment when I had the engine out. If I repaint the car it will go back to body color regardless of what color that might be. The original color is chalked out bad.

Wow that looks different from the original color code. Almost looks silver in this picture. Really Pretty color regardless.
