I have always wondered about that. Who is responsible or liable for damages to your car ? YOU ?

Once at Gateway in St. Louis, I did my burn out, the starter guy motioned me in the the lights. Lights came down and I'm gone. Blowing through the traps @ 130 MPH here's a nova limping down the left side of my lane against the wall (luckily) getting ready to cross in front of me to take the short return. WTF
:realcrazy:

At the grand opening of the Miami Hollywood Drag Strip, circa 1965, before the races started they had a big air show. One of the star aerobatic performers, landed his plane and while taxiing back in front of the grandstands, waving at the crowd from his open cockpit, he taxied right into the brand new Chrondek concrete Christmas tree. The plane's propeller destroyed the tree, went full throttle while slinging one of its blades towards the crowd. (no one hit) By the time the pilot could shut it down, the plane literally shook itself to pieces. You could of heard a pin drop, from the disbelief of what we just seen happen. The pilot climbed out of the plane; looked at the damage; turned toward the crowd and bowed. There maybe some members on here that might have been there that day.

I can't find a pic, or remember who, but a well known mopar truck ss/s racer had all the rear wheel studs break at a national event at pomona, and he wrecked his truck, and the tree.

At least I think it was pomona. What was my name again?

One time back at New England Dragway in New Hampshire Like early 90’s. I was in the staging lane and a spill occurred. My car sat in the sun for 30mins and my right slick got hot. I was like 21 and no pit crew to run over and cover my tires from heating up from the sun. Spill was cleaned up. I think a driver blew a Radiator hose.

Anyhow we were called back and I got the right lane. Did my burn out and staged. Light turns green- I go and front end up.... I’m looking at the crowd- thru the windshield. I drop and pulled the brake. Squared up and still won because the other guy broke out. I think I carried spare shorts after that adventure. It was nobody’s fault but only a chain link fence was between me and bodies. Accidents happen- it’s why we sign waivers.

"Chopping down the Xmas street" someone had fat finger syndrome or auto correct. LMAO
