Gas Can Issues

Yeh. I use a stop gap method. I don't have to transport fuel far, it's only 3? ish miles from home to a station. And I only have one or two cans with the ventless "feature" ........but I have some that even though have a separate vent, the spout is AFU

So here's what I do, with the vented ones, and the caps are AFU. I just grab a grocery plastic bag, fold it over a time or two so it's 3-4 layers thick. I just hold it over the threads very loosely and force/ thread the cap and spout right over the top of the threads I've had no trouble with fuel "eating" that plastic, even sitting in the shed. Unfortunately I've got a mix of cans with different brands, and some, the caps are different thread or different size. So interchangeability is poor

On the ones with the "federal" no vent 'safety' cap, I gut the junk out of the spout so the spout is completely open. Seal it same way as above. For a vent, take a length of that stiff nylon, about 1/4" tube, and orient the "curve" so it hits the end of the can that is "most up" and stuff it down the spout (when ready to use the can) so the tube is in the "will be up" corner and extends out the spout 1/2--1" or so, trim to length. Can be longer if you are filling something like a tractor/ funnel. Now you need a clip. Like a pocket pen clip. Slide over the tube, clip the tube to the spout. !!!VENT!!!

On a side note I accidently learned that you must NOT leave cans in the back of a pickup when filling, especially if you have a bed liner. The cans can / will generate static electricity, spark to the nozzle, and cause a Great Big Fire.

The music makes it a great watch........
