So I ordered a new aftermarket wiper fluid reservoir (Part #2497502) from a well-known supplier for a 1965 Dart GT with factory electric wiper fluid squirter.

The thing is, when I when to put it on, it is about a half-inch too short when I center the original screw on the other side. (see pic)

There was no reservoir when I bought the car but the electric motor and tubes are still there and there is clearly a dirty outline of the original reservoir. Of which the dirty outline template shows that a slightly longer reservoir sat there for a long time.

What gives? It is the correct part listed everywhere I can find. The supplier swears it is the right one.

It's not a huge deal. Other than slightly smaller, it looks identical to ones I've had in the past (except for my old 63 Dart had a plunger with a bag).

I can fill and redrill the one hole needed to fit the new reservoir but I just thought this was a little strange. Perhaps there was another slightly larger reservoir for the option on this Dart?

I ran into the same issue with my '66. I drilled one new hole, which pi**ed me off since I had just painted the engine compartment and could have filled the old hole beforehand if I had known. Oh well.

Well I am interested. I have the original one which I have accidently set my elbow down a few time leading to some cracking. I guess I screwed myself big time.

I will check and see if my NOS bottle that I’ve had squirreled away for at least 25 years match the original mounting holes on my inner fender. Hope so since the engine compartment has been freshly painted!

Damn repop junk from across the ocean! And the cap is on backward according to the original.
