Valve train noise

I didnt have adjustable when it was broke in. Stock rocker set up.
Aaaaahhh!!! There's something that could make the difference!! Are you positive that you got the rocker shafts on there correctly?? The extra spring doesn't change the valve height, only spring pressure. Would the engine run with the stock rockers to see if it solves the problem?
 
Yes they are and were on right. It ran fine with stock set up but, had a noise. Thats why I went to adjustables to see if that would help.

Are you saying that it had the same issues with the stock rockers.....quite when cold and noisy when hot??
 
Yes. The stock set up sounded like valves slappin to me. Seems a little noisier with the adjustables when hot. It takes a little longer to show up with the adjustables.
 
Old man mopar makes a great point, however the video of UTG is just a tweaker parroting real experiences of folks like Steve..and not really 1st hand knowing because UTG is a clown who causes more harm to engines than fixes.
I mean really. Who flattens 2 cams and then takes the lifters back to the parts store for a refund? Smh

Like I said before......if you adjust the rockers hot and by adjusting you can't make the noise go away (as long as the engine still runs good) then the problem is somewhere else. You have to eliminate one thing at a time.
 
Fire it up. Let it idle till it warms up and noise starts, shut it off.. pull the covers...get a sheet of tin foil...wrap or around your head, jk.. lay it out and crimp it to the rail of the head so it stays in place to catch any 'oil spritz' , fancy over here, then get your adjustment tools ready and start it up and adjust them....be it loose or tighter...till the noise stops. If it doesn't...

I used an old used beat up valve cover.......I cut out the top portion to give me access to the rockers with the cover bolted down. It gave me access and kept most of the oil in place.
 
Even their solid lifters are noisy.
The cups bounce/rattle if you shake one. So you have light ticking noise when it runs.
What the **** is wrong with these assholes?
The Chinese never had hot rods so how do you expect them to care??????????? The Chinese have no idea what valve train, lifter or rocker arm "rattle" is.!!!!

What the hell do you mean by "valves slappin" ?
Do you mean the valve face is slapping the seat?
If so those seats wont tolerate that very long before they are hammered.
 
my old melling solid lifters are lightweight and have no springs or clips or anything. some GM and ford engines can adjust rockers when running cuz the adjuster is in the center of the rocker. adjusting shaft rockers is tricky and difficult while engine is runnin

I thought that I had a bad lifter as at time I would here a what sounded like a lifter noise but when I let off the gas pedal the noise went away, scratching my head as to why and then come to find out my driver side header collector gasket was burnt out, end of noise....
