Around the perimeter of the cluster, there's a double stripe, that I think was chrome. It's just yellowed plastic now.

Was it originally chrome? I'm going to paint it silver, if it was.

You can also try Alsa chrome. That comes in spray cans as well. But requires a certain prep to make it pop like chrome.

I used small amount of Duplicolor's chrome paint to touch up an ashtray bezel. I honestly could not see difference with adjoining pure chrome finish. However, ALL of the (so-called) 'bumper-chrome' paints are not intended to be touched or top (clear) coated. Even WD40 will turn finish gray. Dash bezels a very iffy surface since even a small amount of window cleaner, armor-all etc. will wreck the finish - no matter how dry or 'cured'. Keep your grubby fingers off finished work. :elmer:
But, argent/silver body or wheel paint can be clear coated no problem.

It was chromed by vacuum deposition method. There are a couple places that can re-do them but its very pricey. I agree, paint it silver and most people wont know the difference. "chrome" spray paints have come a long ways in recent years. Search around and you will find many different products that produce near chrome results.
