Proform 850 dialing it in closer

-
Just catching up on your posts.
I was trying to decide how big of a inline fuse to us. And was amazed that the o2 heater only took 3 amps.
That's interesting. Just looked at the LM2 specs and it states 2 amps for a single channel unit. I assume that includes the power to the LSU WBO2. 3 amps would be safe.
Been in my new house a couple of week and the Crazy.....a........is a little less crazy
So i had a minute to order the Tachometer Noise filter.

...
Can't wait to see if this has been the answer for all of these years. with this LM-2

Who selects the wire colors for these things?
Can't they even standardize their own productsl?
If green is tach signal to the tach, then why doesn't the filter have green with tracer coming from the signal source.
No they have to change to a completely different color.
shake_head-gif.gif

Hope it works.

I'm getting closer to going to the drag strip. In fact was working on going to Atco this Wed for the T&T. Then I looked at the schedule this morning and see its on Tuesday nights. So that's not happening this week for me. But when I do go, I'll be sure to install the LM2 and see I can record the runs.

Just to give you more ideas - when I made a new tach and gage harness this summer I included a connector for a wire to Innovate LMA3. Thinking about it now, it wouldn't be to difficult to also make up a connecting wire for the LM2.
I used gray for tach signal since the tach equiped '67 cars used gray for the tach signal.

Tucks under the heater outlet.
Convenient to plug into when needed.

agreed!
filter goes from purple thru the noise filter to green.
Green goes to the tach sign on LM2....which is white with a Black tracer.
Ground from the filter is Black(makes scene) then that one goes to the eng block and the other black goes to the LM2.......which is Blue:wtf: :BangHead:

I drove it around the block and it didn't freeze up. But haven't made a full throttle stomp yet to completely verify the fix.

Still haven't found a safe place to do a couple stomp around here to test the Tach/noise filter........Probably have to wait until spring.

The first time, in my life i have used any heavy equipment. Took me one hole day, just to get any kind of coordination with all the controls. Really piss me off when i get a full bucket of dirt........just to dump it back on the ground, instead of rotating the machine to dump it in the pile.:BangHead: :D

Back Yard is Level!!!!
So a Shop can be built in the back yard. YEAH!!!!

You might not be able to get the fuel ring much tighter than that on pump gas. The green on the plug means something...I forget what. I’ll get the link to what shrinker wrote on plug reading and post it here so you can read through it.

Just remember...if you are driving this car on the street (I think you do, I just don’t remember for sure) and you are using a power valve, dropping the primary main jet to clean up WOT may make you lean at a cruise. Of course, the opposite is true...adding primary main jet to clean up a lean WOT can make you fat at a cruise.

I mention that because it happens all the time. If you get to that point of being either lean or rich at cruise, you can correct the primary main jet and then change the power valve channel restricters to get your WOT back in shape.

Here is the link. He gets into what the green means. I should remember it...but ya know...getting old and stuff.

Edit: I forgot to mention that you are doing it correctly in that you are jetting for best MPH. When you get to the point the MPH goes backwards, jet back up a skosh, and maybe add a bit of fuel so when you get out of nose bleed DA’s, you’ll be a bit safer then look at the fuel ring, and that’s where you want it to be for the fuel you are using.

@yellow rose do you have another link for this???
I would like to read that article again.

Thanks.

Race this weekend.......
Hope to prove that my LM-2 is fixed. And can start recording and evaluating data.........Fingers crossed!!!!!

Ok first thing first. LM-2 is working and no, freeze up of the o2 sensor what so ever.:usflag: How Ever(and this is a small how ever)
When i hit the rev limiter the Rpm flat line a moment before recovering.
So with that i just have to say........:poke::elmer::soapbox::thumbsup: WHAAHHH HOOO0
It Don't Lock up any more.
Was going to change the HS air bleeds.......but decided that i wanted to evaluate my data of to day before deciding if i should lean out the top rpm or not...............
Will up load the data tomorrow......or maybe late tonight............

Good to hear! Looking forward to your findings.
On a side note about the garage...how much did the price increase from your first quote and does the company have enough workers to finish it?
Met a builder yesterday at a friends garage; he says he cannot get people to work and prices are outta site for materials...if and when you can get them.

Well lets put it this way.
Between fighting with the city on permits, and the company building it, finding help and supply(AND USING THEM THINGS AS EXCUSES!!!!)
I'm 9 months into this project and have a foundation. I'm very exited that work is finally being done.

Stay tune for the updated graphs..........been "Honey Doing" all day.........

OK so here we go
Disclaimer first.
O2 sensor is at the end of the pipe so the full lean condition is false. only full throttle reading are accurate and all i care about at the moment.
After setting TPS to read 100% it got bumped and now 65% = 100%
RPM is sometimes not accurate at lower rpm, AND when i hit the rev limiter.

I almost feel like i need to jet it back up a couple jet sizes and then lean out the HS air bleed.(go bigger)
ADJ elevation was 84-8800 foot all day long.

Tell me what Ya think.
Purple o2
Black RPM
Red TPS

Understandable. No big deal.

RPM is sometimes not accurate at lower rpm, AND when i hit the rev limiter.
I don't understand why this is happening, especially the low end.
We see a full second delay from the TPS going to wide open throttle 59 until the rpms rise at 60. Real???

H'mm. IDK.
Top gear is looking good. Second is drifting rich maybe a 1/2 AFR ? Its also starting at a lower rpm - not sure that matters other than the engine isn't usually working as hard at lower speed and lower gears.

I'd make each change, one at a time, get a couple of passes on each before deciding what effect it had.
What's the emulsion set up in each block? If you tell me its more than two .028" holes per well then you know what I'm going to suggest..

I forgot to add that the tps bounce, at the beginning is because it stumble off the line and i had to release the throttle and stab it again to to keep it from die. I fix that problem later on in the day with a Cam Squirt position change.
Below 2000 rpm it don't read or reads inconsistently. There is some adj in side the :LM-2 that i can change as well as the pot that i can adj. just have given a **** about it, with all my focuse on the o2 reading accurate.

Will have to spend some time on that now.

That rpm just looks unnatural. Is there some sort of smoothing on?
The rpm channel in the LMA3 had some sort of internal filtering. Never did anything good or bad for my car (til it died). The frenquency channel works better IMO. Not sure what might be available on the LM2.

As far as viewing, here are some tips.
Experiment with the tools where the black arrow is pointed. For example that one its poitned at let you place markers with channel info at any time you want. As shown here.

The one with the + magnifying glass can be used to expand either axis.
In this one the time scale has been expanded.
upload_2021-5-30_16-36-22.png

The hand over either axis can be used to shift them.

For screen capture and mark up that can be copied to here or saved as png (or jpg) I've been using Irfanview (free/shareware)

Sounds like you have a handle on it.

If the LM-2 i can choose from picking up the spark signal from the leading or the trailing edge of the spark spike.
I don't remember what its set at right now.
I also have a 10 turn potentiometer on the tach signal going to the LM-2. instructions say run counter clock wise until you loose tach signal then turn to the right until it just starts to read.
I turned that thing all over the place when i was chasing the o2 freeze up. need to fine tune it again.

It's been a while, and haven't calibrated my sensors or took any data worth sharing.
But my garage is complete. Will be a while before i can afford to get it powered up. but it is nice to finally have a garage again.

Going to do some epoxy paint on the floor before i start moving every thing from my storage unit to my Garage.

That looks really nice, man. Why the super tall door? Just cause? I like it.

I agree. That's nice. Was looking through realter dot com for a new place - preferably with a garage that looks at least half as nice as that.

My last garage was a lot bigger then this one, but what i hated was that i had to remove the camper off the back of my truck to pull it in the garage. This time it will clear with a foot to spare.
One 14' door and one 10' door.

Jesus, how big is your camper!!

4WD Dodge diesel.
From the ground to the top of the A/C unit is 12 foot 8 inch. It was less money to have a standard 14 foot door then have a custom 13 foot door made.

If you go back to post 171 you can see my truck and camper in the left of the picture.

Pretty big camper. Must be the angle of the picture, but it looks like you could put your truck on top of a pusher diesel and still fit it through the door:p

Went racing and had a eventful day.
was a street tire day and i didn't add the extra weight to the trunk. Instead i decided that i would just take off in 2nt gear. That should take enough torque out of the launch that it should go............Nope spun most of the 1/8 in second gear:steering:
Street tire weekend, is kinda like a no prep. unprepared track, no water in burn out box.

So back to the story.
leaving in 2nt gear and still feather the throttle out of the hole to get any kind of traction. As the day went on the track got better and i was able to leave the line by just rolling the throttle in at the start.
Then the next run i i hit the rev limiter in every gear and not just a little but bad. when back to the pits and rev it up in N.
My Revinator ign box has gone bad. So my spare orange box go's back on and problem solved!

About this time a guy in a Hell Cat Challenger wanted to run me. Never afraid to get my as whooped, said sure.:D
Amazingly i beat him out of the hole and pulled on him at half track. But when i hit high gear, that super charged hell cat came charging hard and bet me by a half a car length!

My reaction stunk badly, and he only bet me by half a car length.......so i cooled down the car and checked my tire pressure. while i'm doing that,he's pulling every thing out of the trunk and kicked his wife out of the passenger seat.
Well i tree him pretty good and got out on him a bit. Got it into high gear, and look in my rear view mirror. He is coming on fast and just clipped me at the finish line. only this time he beat me across the finish like by .062 of a sec. the first time he bet me by .237 or basically 2 tenth of a sec. If i would have had my real slick on he would never caught me.
Lost both races and was having the time of my life :D
Mother nature said that was enough and ended the day.

I had my Go Pro under the car for most of the races. the last two are racing the Hell Cat. I unhook it from the bottom of my car and took a small video of his car. Sorry for the gravity defying video:wtf::lol:

@Mattax
@skrews
Got some data from my data logger aka LM-2 Rpm is a little iratic at low rpm but o2 is working flawlessly!!!!
When the rev limiter was messing with me, it made a mess of the o2s as well. have to remind my self that it reads o2 not fuel:BangHead:
I think my last race of the season i'm going to do a 2nt gear launch and take it to 6500, maybe even 7 to get a long pull to watch the o2s
With it being a 1/8 mile track there is just no tim.. in high gear. to see how or if it stabilizes.
Still want to put a larger HSAB in it and see if the o2s will be a little bit more steady, and lean out the top end a little..........
