Another “parts store” warning

-
I bought a HF tap and die set ($40 vs $160 for Kobalt) and was told in no uncertain terms that it had a lifetime warranty.
Yeah but when you snap off one of those HF taps inside an engine block at 1:00 AM, what good is that "warranty"?

I used to laugh at MAC when I was a dealer. Lifetime warranty on drill bits and taps! Are you crazy? That's like having warranty on toilet paper!

I snapped off a SKF tap in an original ‘64 race Hemi block on a Sunday
afternoon at 1:00 PM. I called their 24 hour 800 warranty number. They overnighted to me ( was on my front porch by 9:30 Monday morning ) a new Keith Black raised cam Hemi block as a replacement.
In your dreams,,,,

Talk about broken taps, I sold Walton tap extractors. They worked pretty good. Tap Extractors for Machine Screw, Hand, Pipe & STI Taps | Walton

Wrong 72dinger, Rock Auto is to blame. They are the retailer. I have bought from them as well with minor issues, BUT their customer service sucks. Every order you place thru them is Russian Roulette.

I just bought all the same parts through Rock without incident. The difference is i bought Mevotech and Proforged after considerable research. We are hobbyists working on niche 50 year old vehicles, we've got to perform due diligence in parts selection. We cant trust the vendors, outside of mopar specialists, to know what we need. We got to lean on each other's experiences. We've got to make informed decisions. It aint right, but its the reality.

There is a ton of info available on these very forums documenting the poor quality of most Moog parts (especially BJs). Any cursory research would have yielded it.

Situation sucks, hope he can get his money back and turn around and find a better quality component. Not saying that Rock isnt wrong, they should make it right and get him what he needs.
