Anyone use a Rollmaster timing chain?

I meant a single row roller type chain. For the purposes of this discussion, the 'silent' chain is referred to most commonly as a link type.

Tensioners are not useless or bad, but the 'tightness' they bring is somewhat misleading....the chain is tensioned but only on the trailing side. The loaded side is pretty much the same whether you have a tensioner or not.

My problem with link chains is not in their construction or design but the fact that I don't see a lot of 'quality' chains on the market. I think it's easier by far to find a high quality roller.

measure the pin diameter on your double roller chain. .200" , .225" , .250" some sprockets are available seperately , maybe cloyes and melling. if you match up the sizes, it works . I used an edelbrock true roller .250" chain on cloyes gears , it was -$20. than a replacement cloyes chain - good since 1995

Rusty, let me know if you can’t get one, as luck would have it JP Engineering is only a couple of miles from my house so I’d be happy to get one direct for you and post it to the US if you’re happy to wait on shipping.

Cal, I did find the chain and cam gear. We've been recycling now and Kitty really is enjoying it. So she had the chain and cam gear in the metal can. lol At least she knew where it was. If you want to check on the crank gear for me it would be much appreciated. Let me know the cost for the gear and shipping. Probably be pretty strong from Australia, but I have not found separate pieces here yet. Thanks Cal.

Could u not use a gear from a different manufacturer? Kim

Is there another manufacturer that makes a nine keyway gear for a slant? I kinda wanted to keep that feature.

Hi Rusty, I went down there today but they aren’t open on Fridays so I’ll update you next week.

Thanks Cal. No rush. I do appreciate it!
Well Rusty, I’ve got bad news and good news!
Firstly the bad news, I rang JP earlier this week and they informed me that they do not supply gears separately and regardless, they no longer sell outside of their distribution network!.....

Now the good news, I explained your situation and the fact that you are based in the US and he was sympathetic and kindly offered to see what he could do. So, I managed to pick up a gear from the factory for you yesterday and will post it off to you. Message me your delivery details and I’ll get it organised. While there was a cost for the gear, I’m happy to pay it forward and maybe there will be a contra deal we can make sometime in the future.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Dang man. I'll be more than glad to pay you back for it and shipping too. Thanks, Cal!

I have also used SA timing sets with good results....made in Chicago.
