Any one know what this part is called so I can order a new one? It’s part of the vacuum advance for my distributor.

Apparently trashcanium is quite valuable ( that's why I keep telling folks to keep that old "junk", one man's treasure!) Some day A bodies might come into there own once the supply of those "other" bodies are exhosted

Just because they're asking that ridiculous price for that part doesn't mean it will ever sell for that.
 
So if I wanted to bypass it just have
Agree vac can for emmisions.

What year?
What car?
What engine?
CAP?


If you're going for OEM restoration I get it. But if not just bypass it. I have my CAP can installed and hooked up but the spring is full tight making it effectively inoperative.

what do you mean by CAP can? I’m not going for show car and I broke the one I had last night pulling the engine out of the car
 
I believe that solenoid operated valve just interrupts the vacuum advance at certain times for emission reasons. I think it's called T.C.S. (Transmission Controlled Spark) Just run the vacuum hose direct bypassing that valve. You can leave it plugged in if you like or leave the wire connection off and taped so it doesn't short out on anything.
 
CAP (cleaner air package) was what the emmissions control was called in 67.
And yes if you go from ported vacuum to the vacuum advance canister and cap off any other lines you should be good.
 
Canisters store vacuum, this is a solenoid and they don't. Think of it as a 'vacuum switch'.

If you leave the solenoid in place you can leave the connectors'...connected. It won't do anything.
If you remover the solenoid then tape up the connectors to the nearest part of a harness bundle.
Done.

Should I do anything with the electrical connectors on the canister? Or just not hook those up as well??
