I sprayed my primer base and clear with a 21 gal 2.5 hp harbor freight compressor and one of their purple (20 dollarish) hvlp guns they had them on sale for 14 or so and I bought 3 of them one for each step. It may not be the best or the easiest but on a budget it does work.
