323 355 or 373 gears??

I am a little confused about the fuel tank question. Will the stock fuel tank work with a Dana 60? Was that the question ? Why would the differential make any difference ? Why would the stock fuel tank be a major concern ? Custom tanks are not real expensive in the total scheme of what you seem to be talking about with this build. Obviously the Dana was not an option so yours would need to be custom modified to fit, in which case you can make it any width that you want. Want it to launch and still cruise the hi-ways ? Get an overdrive from Gear Vendors. It will take any power you can throw at it, especially since you say it would be primarily a street car.
But you need a plan before you spend anything. To many different directions, need to narrow your wants to something possible and practical if you don't want to constantly change things.
(1) Result expected . (2) How much money are you willing to spend to get it.

Because of the size of the differential, I have had to re mould gas tanks on Jeeps because of the larger diff size. But what your saying with the smaller cover plate makes sense, I’m used to putting ruff stuff large diff covers and things like that on to protect from rocks.

Yes I think that’s why I’m going to get 4L80 Trans, to get that overdrive gear.

your cam and torque converter will definitely have a large effect low rpm torque

The Gear vendor unit allows more ratios without having to make multiple transmission modifications. Build the trans strong with lower ratios and use the Overdrive to get the final ratios that you want. The trans would fail well before the Dana or the Gear vendor units. They are designed for hard core torque the 4L80- is not.
I included trans, tire and mph calculators and a differential width chart.

what should I do about my suspension?
Drive it the way it is and let it tell you what it wants, else you could be spending big bucks. The 2nd gen Barracudas handle not bad on the street, with just Formula S suspension.
I mean yur talking 40mph or less most of the time, and with a stroker, on street tires, yur gonna be slipping and sliding anyways.
On the front,realistically, you can run a 235/60-14 on a 7.5 rim. As soon as you go to an 8" rim yur gonna run into hiccups. 235 streets don't have enough tread for much over 40 mph. So;
What good is an expensive suspension gonna do you in this situation? IMO, learn to drive on those roller-skates first.
he said, with an lol.

If anything, get the car to stop hard, fast, and straight.

3.73 is also another good "in between" choice.

My car has a 25.4" tire and 3.91's and I feel it's too much gear. The engine is screaming at 70 mph but to be fair I sold a Challenger T/A 392 with an 8 speed auto to buy my Dart with a 3 speed auto so it will take some getting used to.

Getting the car to stop is def in my list “to do” AJ

Also thinking big brakes on 60 should help with that with some disc brakes up front.

I like how it drives now, but with the slant 6 it’s just a cruiser and floats. Has to much sway/body roll on turns over 50, so with the big increase in power want to tighten up suspension, reduce sway, and certainly increase “stopping Power” (9 mm to 45acp) though I’m a 9 mm guy

talked to Jake at Jakes performance about there 4L80E with D3 transbrake and upgraded input shaft. Really like the idea of D3, being able to have a transbrake and still drive it like an automatic.

what stall converter would you guys recommend? 3000?

and also would need adaptor plate since I’ve got a Chrysler engine.

If stopping is an issue, that would Be a vote for the Ford exploder rear end
They generally come with discs

Also what do you think about blueprint engines?>

I have access to a 360 core, could build it up.

But 12K with 727, full drop in with AC doesn’t sound to far off, with 50K mile Warrenty..
I think these are a pretty sweet setup!!!

Blueprint doesn’t offer 4L80’s with there stuff. Think I’m going to go that route, 4 gear overdrive, allows me to run taller gears and still get good top speed, and can plug into it and program shift points
Not sure who you asked but it wasn't me. We do have access to some GM 4L based transmissions that can bolt to a small block. Will gladly price it out if interested. Email or pm me.

For reference, with. 727, 3.91's steel bumpers, and mickey Thompson radials, and a good converter,, my dart ran 12.10's with the IRON HEADED blueprint 408. The aluminum headed engine has 100 more hp, roller cam, and valvetrain, and shaves 50 lbs. Easily deep into the 11's with the right setup.

By contrast, it's not enough tire.

MMM.. well that would have been good to know.

I talked to Ext 1015, I believe his name was Kel.

I have already put a deposit in with Jakes Perf. For 4L80E D3 trans.

Johnny— Can we talk tomorrow to get the engine details ironed out, if everything sound good ill get my order in with you guys.

Thanks,

Of course! In my position with the company I'm able to work a bit outside the box, as well as tasked with keeping up on new industry news, so others many not even know about the 4 speed auto options.
Im not familiar with jakes, but the 4l80 is a big fella...not sure how much surgery you want to get into.

But yes, give me a call any time. I'm ext 1010. Leave a vm if I'm tied up. Will get right back with ya.

For Formula-S/Rally status;
All the slanty suspension parts , and all the slanty brakes gotta go; every single piece except the control arms, and possibly the steering can stay if the tie-rods are good, but the drag-link has to clear your oilpan. That includes the T-bars, rear springs, shocks, and the K-member. And you will want to tighten up the steering box with additional reaction springs. With decent rear shocks and new bushings back there, I don't think you need a rear sway bar; I would adopt a wait and see on that. My car has never needed one for street, even with the narrowed rear and more vertical shocks. If you value your ride, get aluminum wheels; my two rear alloy-10s weigh IIRC less than one 10" steel Rally wheel.

Awesome thanks AJ!

Was thinking about going with these
Series 08/61 S/S

said they are Alumium wheel, steel composite so guessing there a light alloy?

what size And offset should I get for the front, using a BF Ta 225 x 60r15.
Thanks!

Don't you need to butcher the crossmember and/or floorboards to put that trannie in an A-Body?

If you run a cast cover on a D60 with bearing supports and you car sits at a decent height it will the tank. YOu can often just roll the lip. OR just shim the rear back a touch.

You can add linkages/cables to the trans shifter (diablo) to get it in the location you need ya?

I’ve had to re mould plastic gas tanks.. pretty sketchy haha. Okay I can make that work than.

What about for the 4L80E, cutout floor board or cross members?? Don’t want to loose my floorboard hahaha

IF i did a GM trans, it would be 4l70E based, which is more like a 700R4 size. Now the 4L80E is HUGE. 1. its overkill for 500HP. 2. Yes, i think OP is going to have to do some major cutting.

Yeah read an article about 4l80e, looks to big. Give me a call when you can, left my number on you VM.

I think you're in for a world of hurt honestly. The pic below is from a B-BODY. You plan on doing a tubular K frame too w/coilovers?
I've never installed one, so I have no experience. I'm just hypothesizing what a wreck it could be potentially.

tunnel%204.jpg

THe Kframe is easy. It's a 1 day job. Mostly just nuts and bolts.

That tunnel mod is a pain but on a project car that isn't too bad.
