Truly a sad day for rock and roll. Whether if you were a fan of Van Halen or not, dude could grab strings like no other. Eruption is still next level 40+ years later. RIP Legend.

Arguably the best guitar player of all time.
Saw VH in 1981 at The Great Western Forum in LA.
Saw them again a few years back with David Lee Roth.
The world won't be the same without you.
Huge loss, he will be missed by all.
Heaven got another Great one.

Hate to be a downer but I just had to 'fact check" EVH.

I've heard/seen at least 2 different interviews yesterday where he claims "tablature" was invented because standard musical transcription couldn't be used to capture how he played.

I was always under the impression that it was invented to simplify "reading music" although I must admin I thought it was "invented" around the same time frame, IE 1970's.

Turns out according to wiki, it has been around since the 1300's!
