Just got dropped off in the house by the front door. Our Bull Mastiff/ pit bull mix came in first, our 7 month old German Shepherd puppy had this in his jaws coming through the door. Wife shrieked, then he dropped his present to her at her feet. What have you all received for presents? Looks like a deer back bone and ribs. Wife says it looked like he smiled up at her when he did drop it, and looked real proud of his find.

Had a Black Lab/mutt mix many years ago. She was jet black without a trace of white anywhere. Named her Magic. At about a year and a half old, she came to the back door to come back in after being out for about an hour. Wife could see something in her mouth, so she told her to drop it before letting her in. Magic dropped a mole she had harvested. Looked back up to come in and had another one hanging out of her mouth. Wife told her to drop it, so she did. All clear, so she let her in. Magic followed her to the living room, waited for her to sit down and dropped 2 more dead moles at her feet. They were still there with a paper towel covering them when I got home from work. Wife was pregnant at the time with our oldest. She puked next to the moles and just covered the whole mess up and left it for me.

Mouse halves, mole pieces, baby rabbit bits, hunks of lizards, the occasional frog head.......whatever it is, it's never.....and I mean NEVER whole. Cats are merciless.

Had a black lab, German shepherd mix years ago. This dog was great to me but NOT to anybody else. He would get loose from time to time and, it always scared the crap out of me that he would get aggressive towards somebody. He showed up one time after roaming with a complete deer leg in his mouth....not sure where the hell he got it....not sure if he took one down or found a roadkill....

Had a mutt mix drag home a dead Beaver once ( I didn't even know had Beavers around ) and the neighbor's pot belly pig also dead.

AND NOW another annoying story from the old days.

"When I was a kid" we are say, about 1960ish, I am maybe, 12 years old, we had 10 acres and the run of what was once 40, and the rest of that still belonged to my Gramps. There was a tiny creek went through, and beaver dams. There appeared in one of the dams a dead, rotting, stinking beaver carcass.

(out of curiosity, I just looked this up on Google maps, and the beaver dam was over 800ft from the house)

ANYway one nice, summer-vacation morning, I awoke with my west bedroom window open, and should have smelled---a nice summer alf-alfa smell filled morning.

NOT!!!! Our junk, mongrel, give-to-us-by-somebody-who-was-tired-of'em Collie mix dog "pal" had worked all NIGHT!!! dragging that stinking, smelly beaver rot over RIGHT NEXT to the west end of the house!!!!

My beagle puked a baby rabbit one spring. Swalllowed it whole, fur and all

i remember one time being out mowing the lawn, and running over a gardner snake
because of the curse, snakes go pretty low to the ground, and so it got scuffed up by the blades, but not killed

about 30 minutes later, i was back inside and the cat came in with that same snake...trying to take credit for it

My dad kept trying to catch a mouse in our kitchen... The dam mouse kept setting off the traps and stealing the bait...

Then one day when my dad woke up and went to let the cat up from the basement, there was the cat laying at the bottom of the steps with a dead mouse between its front legs... (the cat had a huge grin on his face...)

After that, the mouse traps were not set off and bait stolen any more....

That mouse could fool a trap, but not our cat Lucky... Lucky was a good mouse and snake catcher... He slept in the basement every night - you don't infringe on his domain when you are a mouse or snake, or you were a goner...

Lucky was a long fur black cat with green eyes... The stereotypical Halloween cat...

There was a red fox in my neighbor's yard last Sunday...

My lab got out of the yard one day and came back with a whole cooked turkey. I suppose someone left it out to cool, and it was just too much for old Hank to pass up.

A cat we had seemed to be trying to teach my wife hw to hunt a few times. He'd show up with a literal line of little critters, all laid out nice an neat.. It was almost creepy...

A live snake...
Dropped it in the living room and it went under the sofa. Was able to quickly get it and get it outside again.

Yeah..... REMEMBER that, next time they try to lick your face..
