Aftermarket cylinder head debate - who's the best

-
Infound this blog last night and I think it has some relevance to this thread. I can't confirm the information found on this blog page but is was informative to see the writer list all of the types of SB cylinder heads that are available past and present.

Moparts on the Web - Main Index

The writer likes eldelbrock for modest builds and modified W-2 for performance
Applications.

Do you know how old that write up is?

It's OLD in terms of what is now available!

It is an old write up that, IMO, still holds water. It is just missing today's newest head available, Edelbrocks Victor and it also lacks the mention of any other iron head being made today which I'm not sure if it was available when the write up was written.

And someday, this very post will be old and ragged on for not being current.
LMAO

Jeepers, this is a bit old. Are there any new developments? Me? I am for Aluminium Heads, properly ported with 11:1 compression...comments? recommendations? I have a set of the Edelbrock heads on the engine in Lucille now, and they needed a lot of work to get up to speed. I am building the original block to put in the car with a small stroker crank, 4 bolt mains and a roller cam...

ede victors ported for a max build today , next day who the **** knows

""I am building the 340 to achieve a very modest 350-375hp, flat tourque cammed engine for my A904, 8 3/4 - 323 geared rear end '67 Barracuda fastback. I am still selecting components for the build but I feel the cylinders head selection is too important to just guess and hope I made the right decision on product and supplier. ""
FOR THAT JUST STICK WITH THE IRON HEADS i made 390 hp 410tq with iron heads and just mild porting on my old 340 10.8 compression 190 cyl pressure. ootb ede heads gave me 10 hp and 20 tq with compression raised to 11.4

I run a 360 w/0 deck slugs and trick flows with a Hyd roller cam @224@050 intake & 3.55 gears rolling on a 26X10 that uses pump 93.

Brett Miller has a new program for those heads.... might be worth inquiring about

I have been building engines for quite a few years, (since 1978 at least) The best engine I built was a 340 +0.040" with BRC moly button Pistons, Mickey Thomson Alloy Rods, a half weight Schieffer Flywheel, Ported W-2's with a six-pack and a hidden NOx system...Alloy rods have an expiration date. Now the engine has the same (rebalanced) crank, polished and shot-peened 340 rods, TRW pistons (eww, but one of the BRC's lost a piece on one of the intake reliefs, and I was in a budget crunch). RPM heads that are worked, a Hughes hydraulic, the lightweight Flywheel, and the six-pack with the original exhaust manifolds that are dangerously thin from extrusion honing.

This engine will be built using the original block, also + 0.040", Molnar crank and Rods, (Still looking for light pistons; Wiseco are my first choice
JE or Ross) I am looking to keep the weight under 550 grams. A roller Hughes cam, TTI Headers and the six-pack.

Here in Germany, I can get 103 octane pump gas without ethanol. It smells like VP...so with Aluminium heads, I plan on going 11:1.

Oh, the car is a 1968 340-S convertible, my first car. I bought it in 1978...

Since you already have the Edelbrock heads, I would just port them and go.

For what its worth, my 3250lbs 67 Barracuda is using "stage 2" ported Edelbrocks and it runs low 10's...they work just fine.

I am looking to ship a complete engine here. (The original block is still in PA). I will have it shipped with a dominator intake, then put the six pack on and put the dominator on the engine that is in the car and sell it along.

What...no love for trickflows?
