Please forgive me my mopar brothers and sisters !

I had a 72 Vega that I put a 350 in it after going through two stock factory 4 cylinders in 48,000 mi.
Twisted the frame, cracked the windshield and the doors wouldn't shut after a couple lively bursts down our local street, turned dragstrip. Then I bought a 77 Vega in 78 and that was the last year they made the Vega. They made the block out of a different type of aluminum composition. GM tried to save the Vega that last year and they did their best to fix everything bad about the Vega. In my opinion they did a good job. Mine lasted 10 years and over 100,000 mi. And no rust issues like the earlier ones, before I sold it. Your Pontiac has what they called the "Iron Duke" engine in it. Which was a pretty good engine from what I can remember.
Like yours a lot.
