I have a 1971 duster with the Kelsey Hayes disk brakes . As anyone knows they don't make longer wheel studs . I found a company that makes custom wheel studs at a reasonable price. I thought I would pass this information on in case anyone needed it. The company is msi. Machining solutions . They are really nice to deal with will make them any length or thead size. I had mine made 3.5 inches long and 1/2 -20 threads .

Well, tell us all, how much that cost you to get done?????
It was 200 dollars for 10 shipped.I thought that was a good price . To change my brakes and new rims it would cost around 1500.

Don't play hard to get now! :poke::rofl:
I thought I might help someone out by passing on some information. But it seems like you're making fun of me. Not cool . Just for the record my car runs 8.77 at 154. What do you have ? A 12 sec car .

Gee sorry, Your writing was the problem I found. I was scanning through your original post looking for the company that made the studs and didn't find it. Now that I re read your post I see msi is the company. Sorry I missed it the first time.

One last thing , I had them made in 1/2 - 20 because it was easier to find open end lug nuts. I found lugs for my wheels on eBay. 1/2 -20 are more common.

Thank you for the info. Do you know if they are forged or machined?

I am very interested in this also.I share the same problem. Could you please post the phone number and a contact person?
Thanks,Jimmy

The person you need to talk to is Curtis at 704-528-5436 . You will have to send a drawing of what you want. He thinks he saved a sample of my stud if that will work for you.

I just spoke with Curtis this afternoon and am submitting a print I sketched up for some proper fitting 1/2 x 20 extended studs. All of the aftermarket extended studs have short universal knurled shoulders, shorter heads, and aren't quite the right length to be NHRA legal with a Cragar S/S and Cragar lug nut application. I hope this makes it easier for anyone crossing this bridge after me to get a Mopar-specific wheel stud for their race car.

Thanks, information is always good. If enough people reach out, they might make some to throw on the shelf.

Cool thanks for the info. I need to send him one of my stock 87 dakota studs, so they can make me some 3 inch ones for my weld wheels.

I'm confused....I googled wheel studs, and in 0.61 seconds I found 3.5" wheel studs from ARP for $40.....am I missing something?? Why would I want to pay $200 for these??

Serious question, not trying to be argumentative.

You're missing the diameter and knurl length for a Chrysler K-H fixed caliper rotor and hub assembly.

Even for the rear drums, I'm not aware of any off the shelf long studs that can be just pressed in to replace the Chrysler 7/16 studs. I had a set ground and reknurled but there are other ways to skin that cat.

For the k-h hubs, your options are
a) Find the original 4.5" bolt circle versions (very very rare) and even those I'm not sure came with long studs.
b) Order from Australia for Aussie Valiants. long wheel studs for factory discs
c) Have something made.
The place listed above is one place that will machine and heat treat them.
Another place does similar Wheel Studs - Made in America by Wilson-Garner Company but rolls the threads.
There may be other shops willing to do this work too, but these are the ones I know about.

Oooook, gotcha. I have aftermarket brakes and axles, so I never had this issue. Thanks for the info!

I just want to replace my 7/16” rh and lh with 1/2” standard length on my original Kelsey Hayes rotors. Is there is a manufactured part # for that?

I have a set of 3", 8 3/4', 7/16" rear studs and open mag lug nuts. Never thought of going to 1/2'. Thanks

That's the way I looked at it. And they work out perfect. Very nice people to work with. I'm happy I could help .
