Trick Flow SBM Heads

-
Yeah, he told me the last time I talked to him that he got a set for his sons car. I'm sure there is some gains to be had with a bit of effort. I practically begged Trick Flow to use a standard offset big block rocker on the head long before they were released. They could have pushed that pinch back at least another .150", and had rockers available without reinventing the wheel. Just slide them on small block shafts and go. I think they could still do an intermediate head that way, with say a 2.055 or 2.08 valve, and then do a larger offset race type head with a 2.08 to 2.100 and really move some air.

Indeed, are ya hearing anything from TF about an intermediate or a race head in the near future ?

Ha! I'm a dealer and they don't tell me jack. They are supposedly machining the new small block manifold right now, but I haven't been told they are available yet.

Glad to know you are a TF Dealer. Thanks for the all the info

Hopefully soon, YR and I were talking about testing my rpm,his strip dominator and the tf intake on the dyno if we have time.

Assembled heads through summit,
speedmasters $1172
promaxx $1437
edelbrocks $1530
trickflows $2038
For myself its either bare speedmasters (a bargain to me even at $730 a pair) and build accordingly or trickflow.

But again, when I was in my later teen's I watched my friends Cordoba run 9.20's at 150 mph with a 906 cast headed 440, so again at what performance level does one "need" the TF performance?

That Cordoda must have been light . My son's Duster is 2800 and some change with a 528 ci with all out 440-1 heads and that is about what his runs, same MPH and a little better ET 0's and 8.90's in great air and sticky prep track.

It was a '81 (Mirada body style). Pure drag car, nothing street about it. He was about 12 years older than me. What I can remember about it was it had a Coan converter, 440 stock stroke, tunnel ram with two 750DP holleys (I helped him put the intake on .. LOL), heads ported by Palmer Specialties (I went to school with his son). Then Craig and his car left in the early 90's to go work for Coan. Never saw him again.

Considering we’re talking about small block heads.....
And you bring a RB into the mix.....

When you're done playing dyno games let's see what they'll do at the track...

I can't believe I'm even saying this and saying my friend LOL.. but either my friend hasn't a clue what he's doing or somehow somebody's numbers are pretty fantastic... 74 duster Front halfed - back halfed 440 Stroker tunnel ram now fuel injected from dual quads Dart heads everything possible fiberglass full effort...

Somebody needs to explain to me how is a stock compression 440 going to match this et???... Or is that story just 40 years of memory loss....

He never said stock compression. Read more closely.

So you think it is doable or not. Not sure what Dart heads mean but this is a Stroker right?

I had a Brain glitch.. I don't keep close track of my buddies race car as I'm more vested in the cars that I work on all the time. What happened is I have a customer with dart heads on his Chevy LOL and somehow my brain glitched and I voice commanded the wrong thing...
My bad part of being human I guess...
Indy heads...

Again I admitted probably my friend has no idea what he's doing.... He does all his own work for himself..
I don't care if he doesn't know what he's doing he's one of the nicest guys I've ever met... Quiet humble and friendly...

Well, this got me thinking.... so I this morning did some research. I found him! We're emailing and he is going to send me pictures of the car. It was a Mirada, pro chassis. He still has it. WOW, I haven't seen the car in 30 years. Yep, cast headed stock stroke 440 ran 9.20's. He says he now has a 451 in it w/810 hp. He's retired from racing.
Thanks guys, I got something from this thread, even if it wasn't a set of Trick Flow heads LOL When i get the picture, I'll post it

I've got tons of pictures of my buddies car but I've already embarrassed myself way too much talking about somebody else's stuff...

Not sure how old you are, I'm 59 and from what I've experienced it doesn't get any better. LOL

Yes, there will be a different head coming...all I was told. Given the state of the world right now...that could be a while!
