Throwing in the towel on a project?

-
I had 3 cars when I met my wife. C/S turbo Z, '72 Demon, '63 Fairlane. I live on a car merry-go-round to this day! I've never let hobbies get in the way of family/responsibilities and crimp the budget, but I've always had cars. It's ok to hire work done. Or, maybe in a few months you and her could build the car together.

Beats having an inert vehicle in your garage collecting flotsam and jetsam!

I did the same thing. I had two projects going at the same time my dart and a 72 barracuda. I put them both on hold in 2005 when I got married. I sold the barracuda in 2009 and started working on the dart again 2 years ago. If you have a garage or somewhere safe outside to store put it up and come back to it later it may be next year it may be 5 or in my case it may be 15 but either way its gonna be there when you get the time and money. I wouldn't sell it unless you are absolutely certain your done with it for good. I still regret selling my barracuda but I didnt want to sell it I sold it because we where buying a house and needed the money. Now I wish there was something else I would have done because I really miss that car and now they are next to impossible to find in decent shape for a reasonable price.

Took my truck in for a transmission overhaul. Got it back already started and running...next day with battery dead,
Rear window latch broken, no overdrive.
I fixed it all, bad wire crimp, new battery and a 8 dollar latch. Then found the vac module for the 4x4 hanging loose at the front axle, cracked lower panel mounting holes from over torque.

Some people are great with brakes, alignment, engine diagnostics etc... but leave grease stains in the vehicle, finger prints, break ****.

My motto, Whatever you have, and have invested,WILL cost more to replace.

Order pre bent lines put them on in what, half hour, bleed, thats 20 minutes, done.
Or do the same with buddy doing the work.
I like pre bent lines.

Right now the next opportunity I would have to put them on would be in December and I have other things I need to do on the car that I can do then. With Christmas then the great white death in Ohio I would likely not have the car on the road until next spring and I really don’t want to wait that long.

Mind over money.
If you dont mind spendibg the money, go for it. You trust the guy to do it right, sounds like a long time aquaintance, im sure he will be fair with the bill. If he’s anything like me, charges less for doing work he enjoys.

He is a Chevy guy but used to have a Chevy 2 until he had to sell it so he enjoys working on the old stuff much more than the newer.
