If worse comes to worse, one can adapt the large return line on the steering to a pump with a small return line; see photo (like a previous owner did to my '65 Barracuda). I am not recommending this, but it seems to work. The return line is not under a lot of pressure. I installed an inline filter last time I replaced a return line.
