Thanks man, if anyone is interested in trying to do the same with theirs I just taped the edges off, wiped a light amount of acetone and water to get all the crud off, laid two light coats of the same flat black spray paint I used for my wheels and lightly sanded off the letters with really high grit sandpaper wrapped in a tiny flat level to avoid the back followed by a light, quick clear coat the next day.
