Good day all. I read alot but post a little. Got a guy local who is finishing a Duster, said its a .030 over 440, Stock edlebrock 240's, edelbrock single plane, 1050 Proform, .620 solid cam, 727 with 8" converter, 110 race fuel (not quite sure of compression but i think 12:1), 31X12's and 4.56's. Car is light but now numbers (tubular k frame/control arms, front coil overs, fiberglass doors, hood, decklid, bumpers, no inner fenders, no dash, lexan side windows, aluminum radiator). He's shooting for the 9's, thought i'd run in it by you all to get some guestimates. Thanks in advance for the input.
 
Hoping to get an honest answer when he does make some laps with it. Its more motor then what i run and i went 10.40's 2 weeks ago. And i know its gotta be 200-300 lighter then my junk. But to be honest im not sure he's telling the whole back story with the engine.
 
Keep us posted, I'm interested to see how quick it is, I've never had anything that fast, but have known more than a few racers that ran 9s and 10s.

I will do that. So many options for parts anymore, never can tell whats inside these motors, I can only take him for his word. It should be interesting.
 
I think going to depend on the whole set up. How well the components work together. The othb eddy heads have me concerned about getting the real potential in that set up searching for 9's.
 
Good morning Bob. I agree that he should have no problem hitting low 10's , maybe high 9's.

I have a friend with ootb eddys on a stroked 440 (about 500 cubes) in a Dart...he only runs 6.60's in the 1/8....I think 9's might be optimistic.

My guess would be high 10's
 
Well I can give you some specs on my mates old Dart@3150lbs race weight.......440, 12.5:1, MP .590 sft cam, Eddy Victor intake, MCH Eddy heads 320cfm, 1050 Dom, 5000stall, 4.56 with 31x13's..ran 10.teens@131+.
 
That's more engine and more converter than I have and less weight and I go high 10's.

My old 65 plymouth used to run 6.50 in the 1/8 with out of the box 84cc Eddy heads. It had a stock stroke 440. The car weighed 3420 with me in it. I also had a 73 dart swinger that had a stock stroke 440 with pretty much out of the box indy EZ heads. The dart weighed 3520 with me in it and ran 10.60 in the 1/4. But letting my friend race it that was a 100 pounds lighter than me race the dart
He ran a few 10.49 in the 1/4
 
I have a fool proof method of guesstamacting stuff like this and never be wrong! Now hear me out... my guess is somewhere around 9 to 24 seconds I can almost guarantee you that in right! My favorite response when someone asks me if their car will run lets say 12's. I respond with yes, ALL OF THEM. All of the 12's, all of the 13's and some of the 14's. Unless you've made passes before adn have a fairly well sorted car, i've yet to see anyone new to the strip run what they think they will run.

Here as well, the whole damn quote. I go to a show and someone asks the same question not once, twice, but in rapid succession after I say “I really don’t know, I never dyno’d the engine.” Which is often followed by, how fast did it run. I answer, “I have not had the car to the track to find out.” They repeat themselves again, as if I can magically answer the question.

I have a similar combination I started running this year. Mines 60 over 440 with ootb trick flow 240s, 620 purple cam, M1 single plane, 11.5:1, 950 proform running 112 cam 2 , 727 8" 3800 converter 4.56 Dana 60. All steel 72 Duster except for glass bumpers. Stock suspension. 28x10.5 tire. Lifted at 1000' since it was only second pass on a new build.

Went back the following weekend for a 1/8 mile race and car picked up more. I estimate this should have been in the 10.30-10.40 range.

Not enough solid info to go by imo.
-Ede 240’s..... they don’t exist ootb.
-Ede single plane...... original Torker? Victor? Super Victor? Big difference there
-.620 cam....... no duration or lsa numbers
-12:1cr ?......or not
-car is light...... big difference between 2500 and 3000

So, the combo either adds up to a 9 second time slip...... or it doesn’t.

There is one way to know for sure.

“If” it makes an honest 600hp+, and weighs 3000-ish or less, and all the systems in the car are functioning properly(ign/fuel/converter), and you’re racing in reasonable air(call it 1500’ da or better), it “should” run a 9.xx.
