70 D100 wheel and tires not included got th person down to 2K is it worth driving a couple hours one way even to look at 318 automatic is all I know says it runs - drives and stops but wouldn't take it out on the road

Not a trick ? Don't believe these things are easy to upgrade to make them a better driver even if that's necessary not very familiar with them
 
I don't know if you have them already but before doing a drive like that I would ask for as many photos as possible to show any rust. A little on the fender is okay, holes in the frame would be a no-go for me
 
A lot of old trucks get front clips put in fot better handling. Like Crown Vic or Corvette.
I like the Patina. I'd buy it if it was near me.
 
I've been into Mopar A bodies probably longer than most of you have been alive ( I ordered a 71 Demon 340} and have ventured off into the 67-72 C10 world trying to talk myself into this but it's a damn Dodge looks like you can't do much to them without doing tons of fabrication and $$$$ then you still have a damn Dodge (referring to trucks) not worth much where the C10 can be easily changed to whatever and still retain some value trying hard to support the cause but can't convince myself

5 years ago, I'd agreed with you. Not these days. These old D series step sides are taking off in popularity similar to what we saw 20-25 years ago with the C10s. There has started to be a cult following of sorts with these late 60s-early 70s D series and parts are coming more and more available. The aftermarket is even making full bolt in front clips and such for them now. Value won't be as high as the C10 currently, but I can see it getting close in a few more years.

That said, I see you're in Indiana like I am, if you decide to pass, please pm me the information. I have a friend whos been trying to find one in that price range for a couple years now.

well I was going to look at it today but just got a message from the seller that he sold it so the wondering is over
 
a couple of hours is nothing. just don't understand why so many people have such a problem going a couple hours to look at a vehicle they want or are interested in. they aren't all in your back yard. yes its worth a look.. trucks are hot right now and unless that thing is a total mess in person i can't see ya losing money on it.. its not a chevy or ford so there aren't many parts made for it and what is made for it is expensive...

upgrades in what way?? suspension? they put crown vic front ends in them all the time.. someone maybe gerst? is making a tube front end for them too..

I vote yes. That is a good deal on a rare truck. Check carefully for rust. If the tailgate has DODGE stamped in it that is a huge bonus. The scripted tailgate is very hard to find in good condition. If the wood floor is servicable that is also a huge bonus. Also being an LA v8 will make upgrades much less costly.
 
I put a 5th Avenue front K member assy in this truck in two days. Drives like a caddy, and people walk right by a c10 to look at it anytime I take it to a cruise in or show...

Yes they do. I like modern upgrades, but a lot of the time, that's over kill. I know a lot of vehicles around here like that......and they're nice, but they rarely even go over 55 MPH because the only driving they get is going to shows. I don't see the point. I'd rather have one with the original frame and suspension under it than do "all that" and not utilize it. I love those old trucks. They're super cool like they are. You can lower them and add disc brakes to the stock suspension. Cheaper, too.

Exactly. Unless the truck had rust holes everywhere underneath, it's already be in my driveway.
