Dang! Is that a chrome valve cover? Wanna trade it for my fancy hubcaps you liked? LOL

Yea, I think it's a mr. Gasket valve cover.

Let me clean it up and see if it's nice. I would part with it because I prefer stock parts.

The minute I saw this engine the first thing i thought of is putting a stock valve cover on it.

If it has any rust or pitting, there is a product in the cleaner section of the grocery store called "Bar Keepers Friend". It will do things to old chrome you would not believe.

No rush. Shoot me a pm when you get a chance. I tried, but your inbox is full.

My inbox is jammed because my gold membership just expired so I have a thousand PMs still there and I need to delete everything.

I power washed the whole engine today and I think the valve cover is going to clean up booootiful (near Halloween joke)

I will clean up the inbox tonight and try to get you my phone number or some way to communicate.

Another one with the mysterious piston sizes in grease marker. Another "BH" block, even though i think all of them after 1970 were.

The vin stamp also matches the transmission so they are elementary sweet hearts.

Little grease ball but I think it will live.

Looks great! No worries, so take your time. I will send you my stocker whenever we get to it. It looks just like the one in your pic above....and I'll never need it. I can text you pics of the hubcaps to make sure you want them. 1 is nice, and the other 3 have some curb rash....but are good for a driver type car.

Thanks. I never got through all the crud so I could read it!
That was before I power washed it so all the crud in the pic is gone.

This engine cleaned up really good, the crud wasn't baked on like other engines i have cleaned. I also noticed the freeze plugs look really good so I'm going to assume it was freshened up sometime long after 1973???

I was told the original engine was replaced, but I don't know when. I didn't know the transmission was swapped also.

The "J" in front of the 225 means it's a 1973 engine so if they did swap it then they matched the year of car.

And...... the engine has a new home in a 67 belvedere. I actually wanted to make this car a slant car again because it was originally one. But I didn't have an extra slant laying around and I bought the car without an engine.

Once I get everything fitted then it will come out again to be overhauled and painted red to be correct appearing for a 67 and I'm also going to put a 2 bbl. On it.
