Speedometer bouncing

72 Dart picked up another cluster to replace mine which has several broken pins, wanted to check speedometer using a drill and the needle bounces all over the place anything I can check to fix it? Doesn't seem to be anything wrong that I can see

Turn it slower with your drill, like 50 rpm instead of 500 rpm.

Make sure the speedo head is clean and a little WD-40 lube on the bearing shafts, then blow off the excess WD-40 with low pressure air. Being careful not to blow the WD-40 Lube up onto the black speedo face. Then test again.

Usually a dry speedometer cable when it is in the car will make it bounce. There are special cable lubricants available out there just for this.

May be you damaged something when you spun the odometer back to zero. :poke::poke:

I had the drill on low and just barely squeezed trigger just checked the old one and it works quess I'll use it

That is possible quess I'll use the old one it works wanted to use the zeroed out one with new motor that was quite the job gettin all the numbers lined up
