Egge lists pistons for the 273 only through 1967 and the sales rep says they won't fit later years. I have a 1969 block finishing up at the machine shop. Is there a difference in pistons between '67 and '69 or just a catalog glitch?

I would say a glitch. The bore didn't change and neither did the rods as far as I know.

1969.I think the book shows up to 67 only because that was the last year for the HP version, which was 10.5 or so compression. the two barrel was 9.0 I believe

I presently own a 1969 with the 273, and rebuilt it in 2012. I needed to go .030 over, as the original pistons were.020 over and I had to clean up the bore. By a miracle, I found a set of .030 pistons new in the box at an old parts shop in Puerto Rico! They were on Ebay, and had been on their shelf since 1970!
in addition, once we got past the language barrier, I asked them if they had any more old mopar pistons. They said;SI, 1968 340 10:5 and '030 over, and 1971 9:5 .030 over!. I bought all their sets on the spot. They thought I was a crazy Gringo.

THey don't even list the 2 barrel pistons in 68 and 9. I don't know why. The only thing that changed those 2 years was they went to hydraulic lifters in 8 and 9 and the 4 barrel engine was dropped.

by then the 340 was the big product on the line. it was hell finding rings for that 273 engine as well.
I love the 273, as during all the years I drove one, I got minimum 18 city. 25 once going to Phoenix in a 69 Dart custom. Plenty of power, with slant six economy. they were idiots to discontinue the engine.

Rebuilders Choice. I haven't checked the website yet.

@Alpine White how did your 273 pistons work for you.

I got .030 over hypereutetic Commando pistons from TRW, but that was back in the 90s.

The 273's and Ford 289's were great engines... the 273's were very fuel efficient.

My neighbor in 1967 had a Sunbeam with a 273... kicked my GTO's *** quite a few times! The Tigers had 289's...this was a home built Alpine deal.
