so this is the original k frame out of a 72 demon and it looks like it was hit on something, hard.

I currently need a slant k frame and this guy is sitting on the pile, quickly available but i am wondering if the dent should be a deal breaker or not. There is no noticeable frame damage on the car it came out of.

Do you guys think it would be OK to try to straighten it and use it or do you think it will throw off vital geometry and should be canned?

If there is a local shop with a frame rack, it may be possible to pull most of that out.

A local guy with a Cuda had it done with his, still in the car and it came right out, but it was not nearly as bad as yours.

Likely cheaper to find a replacement.

There's NO way that piece is still straight enough to use. NONE.
Is it worth messing up the weldnut or possibly tweaking a frame rail to find out? Doubtful.

Can it. It's destiny is next year's Hyundai frame.

Do you ever need any metal for anything? It'd be a good source.

Cross check the K member mount holes with a tape measure to see if out of square. Check measurements on one of your other Ks too to compare the 2.

Took a pretty good hit there with all the weight of the car. Would think it would be Horse Shoed a bit.

If it were a hemi K frame or something rare like that it would be worth pulling out. A slant K, should be able to find one for free or close to it. I swapped one out of my 340 sport that was bent the exact same as yours. Same deal, no damage to frame but the LCA was bent to hell.
Did I junk it? Nope. Im probably going to cut the engine mount ears off and convert a slant K.

I built an engine run stand that a K frame bolts into. If I want to test a different engine I just swap the K. Probably not the best way to build a test stand but it was quick and easy.

It's not out of the realm of repair. You have a port a power, remember?

Junk.

But if you have a plasma cutter, welder, some plate and hammers...and if the thing still measures square at mount and strut rods... fixable.
Id start by hammering the lip back into shape.. but it would be best to mount it to something, the car..to keep it from distorting more.

I dont give slant 6 K frames away either. I convert them to V8 ones as well. Have my own jig that uses K frame shoulder bolts to locate the RH V8 mount and templates to make a new correct RH mount. I cut off the slant 6 RH mount , grind it smooth, and add the fabricated RH V8 mount
