Orange connecting rods?

Just pulled my 440 out to reseal some things that I messed up and replace a steering box. Pulled the oil pan off and noticed 2 of my connecting rods are orange. I don’t remember them being this way 4 years ago when I built this engine.
They’re not blue or anything like they got hot. And the orange doesn’t wipe off. WTH?

You sure that isn't surface rust? Not trying to stir the pot, but that was my first reaction to the picture.

It's copper. The factory did that on some connecting rods to get the weight up to match the others. You'll see that in small blocks sometimes too. Seal it up and drive it, they are fine.

I found those in an engine. Run it!

Then why didn't he see it when he built it?
 
look up chevrolet "pink" rods
 
Not being a smart a$$, but if I put something together I'd certainly question the color of the rods then like your doing now.
 
They copper plated the rods if the specs were slightly off. Not uncommon at all to find these.
