Thinking about replacing the windshield on my very original '72 Duster. Does anyone know if date coded reproductions are available and who sells them? As far as I can tell, the AMD re-pops are not available with date codes. Was date coding glass even a thing back in '72 for MOPARs? Are there NOS examples out there and if so, who has them? Thanks FABO! Doug

Just had mine put in Friday in a 1972 Dart. I did not see a date code.

As my dad always said... If it ain't broke don't fix it.

If it is just old you might be able to have it polished and have a satisfactory result.

I did see somewhere where they were etching date codes in glass and it had the more or less correct markings, but it was just a Google search and I have no idea what company now.

Thanks gents. It's not too bad really, just looking at options. May have it polished as suggested. BTW, the Dart looks sweet. Nice glass.

Once again, thanks for the info. Always amazed at how much FABO members know about MOPARs. I'll check out ECS. Doug

I`d just be happy to have a replacement with matching factory tint, when I go to replace mine, someday.
cheers to that. The aftermarket ones have a different color tint across the top I think it's blue sticks out like a sore thumb in my opinion. I was lucky enough to find a 67 Valiant in the junkyard and take the front rear windshield for 35 each and they look cherry. Unfortunately my original rear window was attacked by D A sander when I was having it put in primer.

Classic industries has a line of date code glass - I’ve not bought it or looked into it. I’m sure it’s not month specific but it’s an option.

I'm guessing that this is not OEM glass. It was replaced some time after 1973.

But this is what my etching looks like 67 dart convert

I’ll try to take a pic of mine tomorrow night. In the meantime, thanks for all the info.

Thanks Mark. It does help. I looked at the windshield I'm planning to replace and there are no markings at all. I'm guessing it's replacement glass, so Is no big deal if I go with an unmarked replacement. Checked into Classic Industries and they offer a PENSTAR logo, but no dating.

should be a safeguard made glass from McGraw Glass plant in Detroit Michigan that was sandblasted in using a stencil before going through the furnace (worked there from 66 to 2003) M code and probable the 61 0r 62 series (clear or tint.) laminated glass. in the 70's there wasn't a date code just a plant/shift Dot pattern (80's it started being dated, shift and line)

Outstanding! Thanks guys. Looked at the windshield on my '72 survivor, and there's no markings, so I'm guessing it was replaced prior to 1998.
