I was watching some videos on the tube and saw a Henry 22lr lever action rifle.
Its a good looking rifle at a good price. So I went on the Henry site and was checking them out then I think, yeah thats nice.

So anyone got one or any 22lr lever action that they enjoy? If so I'd love to hear about it.
Thanks!

Yep, I have a Browning BR22, probably one of the more accurate rifles I have (relative to what it is) which is saying quite a lot since I have over probably 80 rifles most of which are precision tactical rifles.

I had a Henry (Golden Boy-newer one). However, the octagon barrel pump-action Remington of my Grandad was far superior in accuracy.

I had a 22 lever action Ithaca long long time ago.

I do recall it was called an Ithaca. Can't remember much about it. Think it was a single shot if that makes any sense.

I will take a look at the BR22.
It is a little out of my wheel house to want to buy a 22 rifle but once I saw that video it reminded me how much fun I had shooting 22Lr as a kid. I recently picked up a 22lr pistol "for my girl" and a 22lr rifle would sure be a great addition "for her to play with".

:)

EDIT- I will look at all 22lr mentioned here.

Thank you and keep em coming!

I have looked at the Henry rifles and believe them to be quality rifles but have always found them to be a bit expensive for what they are. I came into the BR22 by accident as a part of an estate sale. The neat thing with the Browning is that it uses a "short stroke" lever which mean that you can cycle it very easily without taking your cheek off of the gun. I have shot about every type of .22 rounds i can find and the ones i really love are the Aquila subsonic rounds, they do not go very far but are a blast to shoot, kind of like shooting a pellet rifle, great for shooting indoors or perhaps even shooting small rodents.

I was never really a lever action guy, but I have to admit I do love that BR22. I also have another centerfire lever action rifle in 35 Remington but I have never shot it, but the allure is there directly due to the BR.

I saw a used one for sale for $500 a couple months ago. The Henry Golden Boy. I ended up buying my son a Ruger 10/22 instead. I'd have bought the Henry for myself if I had the money. I absolutely loved it.

Thats the one I saw on the tube but it is spendy for a 22. What bothers me about the Henry is if you get the standard one it has a big ugly front sight that is very out of place..

I have a Winchester Model 250 that I got as my high school graduation present in 1971. Mt dad bought it new a few years earlier. I love it and it is very accurate.

Did it look any like this? I got it over 50 years ago as a gift from my father. It’s a single shot breach load and you have to **** the hammer in order to fire it. It was a very safe gun for a kid. It is only about 34” long and very accurate.

Yes Sir that is exactly it. ^^^^^

Wow thanks for the memories, yes it was a single shot and remember having to **** the hammer to shoot it.
Very Cool . . .

i got one of the henry .22 lever actions for fathers day a few years back
it is a great gun, and the kids love shooting it (as do i)

its sitting upstairs in the safe, so if you got any questions on it, i can run up and check

dont recall ever having had a failure to fire
and it i recall correctly you can **** it, and ease the hammer down, so you can carry it with one in the pipe and the "safety" on

i dont recall the price at the time, but i want to say it was somewhere between 250 and 300...at walmart (no, it was not the golden boy model)

My Dads, Stevens Crack Shot 25 lever action .22 long rifle single. Story goes granddad took the boys out to a carnival and going down the midway, he decided to engage in one of the ring toss games. Make a long story short he won, the choice was a monkey or this rifle. Dad and his brothers wanted the monkey, but ended up with the rifle instead, grandpa had the last word.

The rifle long retired, has pretty much seen its’ better days, most of the rifling is gone from bird shot and black powered 22s. It will still fire, but shell ejection is not possible without the use of a ramrod. The gun is happily retired and full of stories to be passed down….

I bought a new winchester 94-22 leaver action when I was a kid, still have it.
It shoots fine, and is deadly accurate for what it is.

The single shot version of this gun is the Model 49. Released in 1961. The one with the tube magazine released in 1965 is the Model 49R. Good gun, and as stated, very accurate for a .22.

I have a Henry Golden boy and absolutely love it best shooting 22 I've ever had I've had it for like 25 years absolutely no issues

Best made are older used guns. Stevens, Winchester, Remington, Ithica, Marlin, Ruger.

Man I feel old. I remember when my neighbor got his Marlin and we would take it "up the hill" behind the house and "hunt pinecones". We would try and shoot pinecones out of the trees. I think the record was like 21 pinecones with 10 rounds.
The trick was to hike untill you found an OLD standing dead pine that was just full of cones. The you shoot at the branch and try to drop a cluster of cones.
(Saftie first right?) We also use to stand out in the gravel drive way at sunset and hunt bats with the 20 gauge. One guy throws a hand full of pea gravel up into the air and the other guy shoots the bats as they swoop in on it. Yeah......

Dam, Those were the days. I gotta call that guy.

Thanks for the memories.

Shooting bats is hard, I could only hit one out of a whole box of shells.
I swear they could hear the action of the trigger of the gun, then they would change directions, right before the shot went off.

Killing the bats kinda makes me feel like a jack *** but that was before we knew they are good to have around.
