Man I feel old. I remember when my neighbor got his Marlin and we would take it "up the hill" behind the house and "hunt pinecones". We would try and shoot pinecones out of the trees. I think the record was like 21 pinecones with 10 rounds.
The trick was to hike untill you found an OLD standing dead pine that was just full of cones. The you shoot at the branch and try to drop a cluster of cones.
(Saftie first right?) We also use to stand out in the gravel drive way at sunset and hunt bats with the 20 gauge. One guy throws a hand full of pea gravel up into the air and the other guy shoots the bats as they swoop in on it. Yeah......
