Input for 340 upgrades

Exactly. For the GVOD to pay for itself you’d need to put something like a 150k on it or something like that.

Somewhere I did the math for my car and it just was astronomical how long it takes to recover the money spent.

Of course, that doesn’t factor in the issue of guys thinking 3.55’s are a low gear. For them, they pay back is in a more tolerable overall final gear ratio.

I still say the 4.56 is the best all around STREET gear.

Agreed. Kinda like people who pay thousands and thousands extra for a diesel motor home, over a gasser, then 8 years old its got 30,000 miles on it and they lost a load and never came remotely close to paying for the motor.
Last thing remotely on my mind is gas mileage on a 50 year old street/ street/ strip muscle car.
Heck i run 110 on a 10 to 1 motor juxt cause i like the smell of it, not like i am driving it 15k miles a year on nice summer days

One of the main reasons for getting the GV was a milage thing, but more so to keep the rpm's somewhat lower
While using lower gears to get longer life / less engine wear. + if I ever drive from SC. Back home to VA. a 400 mile trip. I'd drop in my 3.55's & with OD be running a 2.769 final gear ratio

i would enjoy that car for other uses and get a commuter car
Why I like driving the car , do not like new cars at all , don't need all the distrations , when i drive i drive , don't need something to tell me where i am or where i'm going .

DRIVE 120 MILES A DAY @ 1.46 A LITRE OF GAS , THEN TALK
Caps is considered yelling... and m not sure what your meaning by your post, but, “I was driving 100 miles daily round trip” 5-7 days a week (in N.Y.C. ruch hour traffic) not all that long ago. No B.S.! So when you do the math on a GV cost vs mileage saved plus total miles on usage vs fuel cost, the GV is a looser.

So I know what I’m talking about because I lived it, been there and done that and know it very well. If this isn’t good enough for you, fine, I’ll just read on and laugh at this thread every once in a while.

You ARE way better off making a mileage master engine for your ride OR a street burner stop light bandit. Ether or, pick one.

The best way to gain power is through pressurizing the engine, turbo or super charger and making use of a regular OD trans. As an example, the manual MP 4spd transmissions OD is .69, which should be multiplied by the gear ratio for the final drive ratio. Equip accordingly. Remember, the first gear ratio is 3.09. Allowing a good get up and to feel. Even a modest cam will do great!

Carry on!!!

my buddies with those gears cry every time we have to drive more tham 10 miles to a meet
Pussies!

not at 7.50 a gallon

$7.50 a gallon is your bane. Not mine. The cost of fuel is relative. Don’t ***** about it. Deal with it or don’t. Get a second job or get a higher mileage car. Honda makes a good one for you. But!!!!!!

You can always move to the USA and enjoy the current $1.93 a gallon I pay. At the time, when I was doing the driving, fuel was $3.50+. Getting parts is cheaper, easier and quicker as well.

FWIW, my old ‘79 Magnum with a LA 360 got 20 mpg Hwy and ran 14’s. Not fast enough? I hear that. A super charger helps fix that!

Get a better job ? been retired for 15 years . I'm happy with the GV you not good with me , no problem where did i ***** about it , just stating a fact .
Buy a Honda now that is funny , I drive American if at all possible , have 2 jeeps , an explorer and an escape for winter months , just don't like driving them , on the lookout for an old , pre 75 Bronco for winter , if it rusts i'll rebuild money isnot the object , it's the getting out of the car to fill it that bothers me , if i had a 30 gallon tank in my Dart i could live with 15 mpg

Can[t move to the US to many medical problems could never get insurance , beides Biden is Prez , Trump i could live with he's a nice guy , met him several times before he was prez

In my opinion it is cause prohibitive. I think you have to be nuts to buy one. To those I did, they say they enjoy it. I just can’t see spending that type of money!
when you have a 91 dodge Cummins and it governes out at 2200 rpm and it has 4.10 gears. (governs out at 60 mph) A Gear Vender is God sent!

There tough as nailed. if you service them. and thy will last forever. it just having that much money to get it.
If i ever put my Cuda back on the street. Will keep my 4.56 rear gear, and add a GV .

Really? You met Trump? Wow, now that is awesome to meet a President. Veeeeery cool!
