No fuel after start up

1968 Barracuda 318 auto, He's the problem.
start up and runs fine after a couple minutes no fuel wait a couple mins and it starts and does same thing.

new fuel installed 2 nd one
new carb
new gas tank
new sending unit...

Car did the same thing for old owner before replacing stuff .
Any ideas?????
 
Did you replace all the old rubber hoses in the fuel supply line?

Also, remove the gas cap when it quits and see if it will restart and stay running.
 
When you say "no fuel" are you meaning in the carb? If so, sounds like your float is hanging up in the closed position.
 
Well either the pump crapped out, the filter is blocked or the fuel line is vapor locking or something (or perhaps the pick up is blocked).

I would disconnect the line, turn the engine over and see if it pumps fuel through the filter (into a can). Pull the coil wire so it doesn't start. Basically you need to do some diagnostics to see where it is being held up.
 
Check the fuel "filter" in the tank anad of course the tank for crud. My superbee had a similar situation. I could watch the clear filter by carb just get less and less fuel as it kept picking up more stuff in tank and block the sock in the tank
 
Several years ago, Mine worked perfect when cold but after the engine warmed up I could watch the filter empty then refill in cycles. The engine would go lean and stumble for a few seconds. I changed the sock, the rubber lines, and the fuel pump. No change. It took me a while to realize the filter wasn't really going empty. It was filling with fuel vapor flowing back from the carb bowl. One would think that the bowl vent would be sufficient. Even with the 73 model 2 brl. carb that has a much larger vent for vapor return system, same thing happened, just not as severe. Anyway... The fuel line for a 73 model has the fuel filter mounted vertically between alternator and timing cover. I think the fan keeps it cooler there. That and the thickest base gasket I could find put under the carb fixed it. A while later I found where to buy real gas. It doesn't perk so easy and doesn't perk away after shut down either.
So first thing to check, Is the bowl vent open? A little disc on the accelerator pump shaft lifted?
If you do change to the later model fuel line/filter configuration and buy the aftermarket reproduction line, you'll need to change to the later model fuel pump too. They moved the dang line connection point on it.
 
If there's no fuel after start up, then don't start it and you'll have plenty of fuel... :steering:
 
Put a vacuum gauge on the pump entrance and turn the motor. So many of the replacement pumps are not properly bent to contact the eccentric.

On all later mopars they had a filter with a return on them to accommodate the ethanol fuels . 87 was the last year then they started injecting them .

My car would vapor lock constantly and it had an electric pump at the tank. The fuel would vaporize at the engine and cause the float not to work. After putting this return on I was able to get the rich lean gauges correct. The problem was more noticeable on restart on my car. The fuel would flow constantly and never boil. I have installed the later filter on early factory pumped cars with a return to the tank. It works great.

I have noticed this only occurs with pump gas . C14 leaded was better without a return.

take an air pressure hose and blow out the fuel line from the pump back. Your sock could be a rusted mess. remember to vent the tank or you could blow out a previous dent (like I did!). I ended up taking the sender out and the the sock was gone, nothing but a plastic mesh tube full of rust. Remember the pumps suck and will find the least resistance to pull, ie. an air leak.

I believe he said he replaced the tank and sending unit.
