Waiting to see if the price drops any....that whole "Black Friday" thing.....
I'm considering buying a new camera body
Welcome to Abes of Maine
I have it sitting in the shopping cart, no sales tax is listed in the total. Last camera body I bought I got from a different retailer in Jersey, they did not charge me sales tax either. Thought all internet sales were taxed?

When I was buying a part online I started to check out and realized I had a question on my order. The total had tax calculated in with free shipping. I called the company to get my question answered and decided to pay over the phone. The lady gave me the total without tax so I question it why no tax. She proceeded to tell me if I buy on the internet I will have to pay internet tax. If I buy over the phone there’s no tax.

Oh, Doug PLEAUZE!! We all know you just want to brag about your fancy new CANON!!!

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>LOL!!!!

By the way I finally bought a couple of full frame bodies

Bought an old 5D mk I off CL for Hundred and fifty bucks. I liked it enough I found a 5D mk II on egag refurbished for 400. I've forgotten, only 4500 on the shutter I think.

Silly OP, trying to make sense of the government justification for reaching into your wallet.

Pick up that trash, citizen.

I think it is now.

I bought from optics planet friday. No tax, or else it's rolled into the price.

I do remember talking with the guy I bought my last Camera body from on the phone...but I had already purchased it....he was trying to get me to buy a lens if I remember right....

Not 100% sure I am going to buy it yet. I am going about learning this stuff the hard way, on a pro grade body. I am REALLY struggling with panning shots. Part of it is my back really limits how far I can swivel on my hips...a larger portion of it is I have been using ALL the wrong settings. I did this at the end of last year as well...sat here...staring for hours at the images. Using various different plug ins in my editing software...dissecting what I did wrong. Figured out some stuff.....looking forward to the Hang Over Rally at Spokane County Raceway, will give me a chance to see if what I am thinking I did wrong was correct.
I really like my full frame bodies. Couple them with a long (300+mm) lens and the compression you get is amazing. In 2019, if you were at the track, was just about a guarantee I would have my 70-200 lens on the body. Now...at least at the strip, it is either the 300mm or the 50mm....just depends on the time of day.
4500 on the shutter is not even broken in yet...

...and I used to be employed by the USPS....one would think I would know better then to try and make any sense out of anything from the gubermint.

Canon is not really flexible on the pricing. The body I am looking at is an import, the USA model is like $1400 higher. Only difference is the warranty. The USA one has a year, the import is only 90 days or something like that. I have a Canon Professional Service membership, so if the body were to break I get a 30% discount on the repair. I have purchased 2 different imported lenses and 1 imported body...well worth the risk. If the body does break in the first year as long as the repair is less then the $1400 I am still ahead of the game. My last body needed to have the entire mirror box replaced. Had the body for over a year so it would not have mattered if I had purchased the USA model or not. The body had been back to Canon 3 times for the same goofy issue so they did not charge me a dime to fix it.

I was thinking the tax was rolled in. But Abes has it for a few hundred less then the other place I have dealt with so guessing not.

At some point I would like to get Canons latest and greatest mirror less body. Have seen lots of the same complaints....when they release the second generation one I may look at it a bit harder....

Yikes, that "white box" post sales call was so common in the old car audio game...buying gray market Alpines or Sherwoods that had a REFURBISHED sticker right on the bottom and NO warranty support from either company..."
Where did you buy it?" Joe's auto stereo..."Sorry they are not an authorized reseller, your warranty claim will be denied" and of course Joe's wont fix it..."Take it to Sherwood up the freeway, its their product!"... F you.
